This book focuses on core functionalities for wireless real-time multi-hop networking with TDMA (time-division multiple access) and their integration into a flexible, versatile, fully operational, self-contained communication system. The use of wireless real-time communication technologies for the flexible networking of sensors, actuators, and controllers is a crucial building block for future production and control systems. WirelessHART and ISA 100.11a, two technologies that have been developed predominantly for industrial use, are currently available. However, a closer analysis of these approaches reveals certain deficits. Current research on wireless real-time communication systems shows potential to remove these limitations, resulting in flexible, versatile, and robust solutions that can be implemented on today's low-cost and resource-constrained hardware platforms. Unlike other books on wireless communication, this book presents protocols located on MAC layer and above, and build on the physical (PHY) layer of standard wireless communication technologies.
This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 10th International Conference on System Analysis and Modeling, SAM 2018, held in Copenhagen Denmark, in October 2018. The 12 full papers and 2 short papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 24 submissions. The papers describe innovations, trends, and experiences in modeling and analysis of complex systems using ITU-T's Specification and Description Language (SDL-2010) and Message Sequence Chart (MSC) notations, as well as related system design languages - including UML, ASN.1, TTCN, SysML and the User Requirements Notation (URN). This year's edition of SAM will be under the theme "Languages, Methods, and Tools for Systems Engineering", including languages and methods standardized by the ITU-T, and domain-specific languages. Also included are software engineering technologies, such as for requirements engineering, software verification and validation, and automated code generation.
This book constitutes revised papers of the proceedings of the 7th International Workshop on System Analysis and Modeling, SAM 2012, held in Innsbruck, Austria, in October 2012. The 12 papers presented were carefully reviewed and selected from 27 submissions. In addition, the book contains two keynote speeches in full-paper length. The contributions are organized in topical sections named: test and analysis, language enhancements, fuzzy subjects, components and composition, and configuring and product lines.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 5th International Workshop on System Analysis and Modelling, SAM 2006, held in Kaiserslautern, Germany in May/June 2006. The 14 revised full papers presented were carefully selected during two rounds of reviewing and improvements for inclusion in the book. The papers are organized in topical sections on language profiles - what was the main focus of this SAM workshop - evolution of development languages, model-driven development, and language implementation.
This work presents a new, abstract and comprehensive view of open distributed systems. The starting point is a small number of core concepts and basic principles, which are informally introduced and precisely defined using mathematical logic. It is shown how the basic concepts of open systems interconnection (OSI), which are currently the most important standardization activities in the context of open distributed systems, can be obtained by specialization and extension of these basic concepts. Application examples include the formal treatment of the interaction point concept and the hierarchical development of communication systems. This book is a contribution to the field of software engineering in general and to the design of open distributed systems in particular. It is oriented towards the design and implementation of real systems, and brings together both formal logical reasoning and current software engineering practice.
