The Doctor (William Hartnell), Ian (William Russell), Barbara
(Jacqueline Hill) and Susan (Carol Ann Ford) find themselves
stranded in Aztec times when the TARDIS is trapped in a tomb.
Proclaimed a goddess by the Aztec priests, Barbara attempts to
change the course of history by forbidding the human sacrifices
which are part of the Aztecs' religion. It is up to the Doctor to
find a way back into the tomb and recover the TARDIS, before the
priest Tlotoxl (John Ringham) unmasks Barbara.

'60's British B-movie chiller featuring voodoo, the supernatural
and general dark arts. A comely young British teacher takes up a
remote posting in darkest Africa where the local juju man lays a
hex on her. She has a breakdown and is forced to return to the UK.
There, she takes up a post at a rural school where all appears well
on the surface. It turns out, however, that the place is a hotbed
of witchery and darkness and that a virgin sacrifice is planned for
the near future. The film was directed by Cyril Frankel, who'd made
Hammer's 1960 child abuse drama 'Never Take Sweets From a
Stranger', and the script was by Quatermass author Nigel Kneale.
Their depiction of sinister undercurrents in a pastoral setting
wasn't sinister enough for the BBFC, however, who only granted the
film an 'A' certificate. Hammer persuaded them to reconsider, but
this accomplished film still failed to find an audience.

In the London of 1922, downtrodden housewife Lottie Wilkins (Josie
Lawrence) feels the sudden need to get away from things, and
invites her neighbour Rose (Miranda Richardson) - to whom she has
never even spoken before - to share a holiday in an Italian villa.
In order to save their finances, they share their holiday home with
haughty dowager Mrs Fisher (Joan Plowright) and beautiful socialite
Lady Caroline Dester (Polly Walker). Upon arrival the foursome
clash almost instantly, but gradually learn to live with one
another as their respective personalities are transformed by the
surroundings.
Julie Christie stars in this adaptation of Thomas Hardy's
19th-century story of a woman's passion. Set in Victorian England,
the film follows Bathsheba Everdene (Christie), a beautiful,
independent woman who runs the farm she was left by her uncle. She
becomes romantically involved with three very different men:
handsome and wayward soldier Frank Troy (Terence Stamp); prosperous
gentleman William Boldwood (Peter Finch); and ever-patient shepherd
Gabriel Oak (Alan Bates).

Undertaker's clerk Billy (Tom Courtenay) escapes his dreary small
town existence in a 1950s Northern town by living in a fantasy
world where he realises his ambitions. When his job, unsympathetic
working class family and two fiancees threaten to become too much,
he meets fashionable Julie Christie, who offers him his one chance
for real escape.
A collection of four classic films starring Julie Christie. In
'Billy Liar' (1963), undertaker's clerk Billy (Tom Courtenay)
escapes his dreary small town existence in a 1950s Northern town by
living in a fantasy world where he realises his ambitions. When his
job, unsympathetic working class family and two fiancees threaten
to become too much, he meets the fashionable Liz (Christie), who
offers him his one chance for real escape. Christie won an Oscar
for her role in 'Darling' (1965). In the film she plays Diana
Scott, an ambitious model determined to make it to the top. Using
her sexuality, she manipulates powerful men, but in so doing
becomes a prisoner of the jet-setting lifestyle she once yearned
for. Dirk Bogarde co-stars as Diana's long-suffering boyfriend.
'Far From The Madding Crowd' (1967) is an adaptation of Thomas
Hardy's 19th-century story of a woman's passion. Bathsheba
(Christie) is in love with three very different men who are also in
love with her: her first love is a handsome and wayward soldier;
the second is the local noble Lord, and the third is an
ever-patient farmer. 'The Go-Between' (1970) is an adaptation of
the classic novel by L.P. Hartley. A young teenage boy, Leo
(Dominic Guard), is invited to a wealthy school friend's rich
family estate and is drawn into a love affair between his friend's
twenty-something sister, Marian (Christie), and the family
neighbour, even though she is engaged to be married. She uses Leo
as a go-between, sending messages to her lover. Despite feeling he
is betraying her fiance Hugh (Edward Fox), Leo carries on being the
messager boy and discovers more about the attraction between men
and women along the way.
