In December 1910, Indian traders John and Louisa Wetherill opened
their trading post--with a tent for supplies (and sleeping) and a
store counter of boards laid across two barrels. From that modest
beginning, Kayenta became the center of Navajo gatherings and
exploring expeditions to Rainbow Bridge, Monument Valley, and the
grand cliff dwellings in Tsegi Canyon. Soon came a parade of
visitors, including authors, painters, and archaeologists, as well
as cowboys, miners, traders, and tourists. The Kayenta Township
today is home to descendants of the early inhabitants and the hub
for thousands of annual visitors from around the world who come to
see the magnificent region known as Monument Valley.

On a snowy Christmas Eve, a young man named Thomas on his way home
for a family celebration realizes that the candle in his lantern is
about to expire. He stops in a chandler's shop filled with
fantastic wax creations, but instead of admiring them Thomas scorns
the chandler for wasting his time on sculptures that will only
melt. The mysterious old chandler sells him a special Christmas
candle. Back on the bitterly cold street, the young man is accosted
by an old beggar woman. When he lifts his lantern to get a better
look, the candlelight reveals that she is his mother. He gives her
his cloak and only then sees the truth: She is not his mother after
all, but a stranger. The candle tricks him again before he reaches
home, cold and penniless, but richer for his newfound realization
that we are all part of one family.
This intriguing original fable about charity is accompanied by
lavish, mood-filled oil paintings by artist Jacob Collins.
Together, author and artist have created an exquisite holiday gift
book that will be treasured by the entire family.

Elgen boat that serves as a floating treasury. To do this, Michael
and his friends need help...a lot of help. They've learned about a
highly placed member of the Elite Elgen Guard named Welch, who
wants to defect. They also know that Hatch has condemned three of

before the Elgen do, and if they can rescue Quentin, Torstyn, and
Tara, they just might be able to steal the Joule. But it's a big

A heartwarming and inspirational Christmas novel in the tradition
of "The Christmas Box, Grace, The Gift," and "Finding Noel." The
"New York Times" bestselling author of "The Christmas Box "and The
Walk" "series returns with a holiday novel of hope, love, and
redemption.
Dear Reader,
When I was in seventh grade, my English teacher, Mrs. Johnson, gave
our class the intriguing (if somewhat macabre) assignment of
writing our own obituaries. Oddly, I don't remember much of what I
wrote about my life, but I do remember how I died: in first place
on the final lap of the Daytona 500. At the time, I hadn't
considered writing as an occupation, a field with a remarkably low
on-the-job casualty rate.
What intrigues me most about Mrs. Johnson's assignment is the
opportunity she gave us to confront our own legacy. How do we want
to be remembered? That question has motivated our species since the
beginning of time: from building pyramids to putting our names on
skyscrapers.
As I began to write this book, I had two objectives: First, I
wanted to explore what could happen if someone read their obituary
before they died and saw, firsthand, what the world really thought
of them. Their legacy.
Second, I wanted to write a Christmas story of true redemption. One
of my family's holiday traditions is to see a local production of
Charles Dickens's "A Christmas Carol." I don't know how many times
I've seen it (perhaps a dozen), but it still thrills me to see the
change that comes over Ebenezer Scrooge as he transforms from a
dull, tight-fisted miser into a penitent, "giddy-as-aschoolboy" man
with love in his heart. I always leave the show with a smile on my
face and a resolve to be a better person. That's what I wanted to
share with you, my dear readers, this Christmas -- a holiday tale
to warm your season, your homes, and your hearts.
Merry Christmas
