As a baby, Tommy (Eric Idle) was accidentally left behind at a wild London party by his very wealthy family, to be raised by a very poor Asian family. He grows up to find that not only is he the heir to the Duke of Bournemouth, but that his American cousin Henry (Rick Moranis) has inherited everything. As if that wasn't bad enough his real mother (Barbara Hershey) unwittingly tries to seduce him, while his true love Kitty (Catherine Zeta Jones) only wants to marry Henry.
Mel Brooks spoofs every sci-fi movie from 'Star Wars' and 'Alien' to 'Planet of the Apes' in this interstellar comedy. When Princess Vespa (Daphne Zuniga) is kidnapped by the evil Dark Helmet (Rick Moranis), space adventurer Lone Star (Bill Pullman) and his doglike companion Barf (John Candy) are hired to rescue her by her father, King Roland. En route the duo encounter the monstrous Pizza the Hutt (voiced by Dom De Luise), cosmic advisor Yogurt (Brooks) and the princess' android handmaiden Dot Matrix (voiced by Joan Rivers), and discover all kinds of opportunities for spin-off merchandising.
The trials and tribulations of family life, as seen through the eyes of three generations. Meanwhile, his Yuppie brother-in-law Nathan (Rick Moranis) is preparing his 3-year-old daughter for life in the fast lane by an accelerated learning programme which causes her to miss out on the more basic joys of childhood. Gil's sister Helen (Dianne Wiest), a single parent, struggles to control her uncommunicative son and wild daughter, while black sheep of the family Larry (Tom Hulce) returns to sponge off his father Frank (Jason Robards) in order to pay off gambling debts.
In this Disney-animated, coming-of-age story, Kenai (voiced by Joaquin Pheonix) is an impulsive young Native-American boy who is magically transformed into a bear by his brother when their father is killed by a mother bear protecting her cubs. Forced to see the world through a bear's eyes, Kenai sets out on a quest to find the mountain where the light touches the earth and regain his human form; and learns alot about compassion on his journey.
