A new field of research in education is emerging known as emotional
intelligence. This book showcases the many contributions that
emotional intelligence can make to education and to the wellbeing
of schools as social communities. This book recognises the changing
role of the teacher and acknowledges the new skills and ways of
understanding that are required to deliver education in
contemporary society and within the context of the ongoing
development of the teacher. A number of approaches within the
emotional intelligence field are explored in this book so as to
enable readers to better understand the diverse needs of the
student.
This book examines a series of innovations in education. The book
editors argue "innovation is not necessarily an all encompassing
large change but can be anything that deviates from current
practice". In this book Knight and Van der Zwan present a number of
authors who have written chapters on a range of innovations in
education as diverse as leadership, learning design, pedagogy,
classroom practices, assessment organisation, resource use and
enhancing teacher capabilities.
Psychology is a discipline with a rich and proud history of
research, both pure and applied. With that point in mind this book
is the first in a series that incorporates essays focused on
current issues in both the laboratory and in the workplace.
