Despite all the securities laws enacted to prevent fraud, Let the
buyer beware still reigns in the new issue market. Everyone who has
ever jumped at a get-rich-quick scheme with a public offering
touted as a financial bonanza, only to find later that they have
been burnt, will profit from The ABCs of IPOs. Formerly an
engineering manager and risk-seeker, Mr. Chechile combines his
experiences as a long-time investor with knowledge as a stockbroker
to reveal how to avoid money traps, not only with IPOs, the crown
jewel of new issues, but also with a wide range of popular new
issue securities, including limited partnerships, convertible
securities, and more. The ABCs of IPOs explains the rules of the
game, the roles of all the players, the arenas in which securities
traders do battle, how to financially evaluate business
organizations, and the not-so-obvious signals identifying which new
issues have the potential to succeed, and which will likely be
turkeys. Mr. broke while pursuing new issue investments, and makes
recommendations for tactical maneuvers investors must make once
their new issue, especially an initial public offering, starts
trading in the marketplace.

Everyone desires to control their financial destiny; but many feel
overwhelmed, fearful, or uncertain how this can be accomplished.
Lectures on personal finance are rarely offered; and when free
presentations--called seminars--are promoted, they are far from an
educational experience. The underlying objective is to solicit
sales of securities for which the presenter, a financial advisor,
receives a commission. However acquired, the investment company is
the investment of choice for the individual investor. Therefore, in
The ABCs of Mutual Funds, author Robert Anthony Chechile explains
the different investment company securities: mutual funds,
contractual plans, hedge funds, exchange traded funds, folios, unit
investment trusts, and variable annuities. service and discount
securities dealers and the role and legal obligations of
stockbrokers, as well as financial planners, and investment
advisors. For those seeking financial control, he explains how to
minimize risk with capital allocation and diversification
guidelines; and presents conventional wisdom investment strategies
that can avoid being caught in the fear-greed trap. Finally, Mr.
Chechile recommends investment guidelines and selection criteria,
and uses these to construct a hypothetical investment company
portfolio, the future performance of which is then critiqued 7
years later.

Karl Adam illuminates the life and work of one of the most highly
respected and widely read Catholic theologians of the 20th century
- a theologian who not only influenced such diverse thinkers as
Pope Paul VI, Karl Rahner, and Flannery O'Connor, but who also had
a tremendous impact on Vatican II. Here Robert Anthony Krieg, CSC
unites biography and theology in an analysis of Adam's most
influential works, showing how he crafted a theology for his time,
one that embodied the central tenets of Christian belief while
simultaneously adopting the language of German neoromanticism. The
book spans the century from Vatican I to Vatican II. Krieg begins
by describing Adam's work against the backdrop of German Catholics'
struggle to enter the cultural mainstream. He then analyzes Adam's
major writings in the context of the Weimar Republic and the
theological fermentation between the wars. Adam's confrontation
with Nazism and his impact upon ecumenism and christology after
World War II are also discussed. The last chapter appraises Adam's
reliance on German neoromanticism for his "theology of life".
Church leaders, historians, and theologians should appreciate this
stimulating case study on catholicism and inculturation, which
locates Adam's efforts at theological renewal in relation to both
Rome's defensive stance against modernity, and also Berlin's
nationalism during the Weimar Republic and the Third Reich.

In the world of espionage, countries are ever trying to uncover
secrets from their rivals to give them that edge that will make a
difference. Favorite targets are often the men and women in the
military, who by the nature of their jobs, possess the very secrets
they seek. To counter this threat, militaries have developed secret
organizations whose main purpose is to protect the loss of
classified information. One way they do this is by enlisting the
help of ordinary soldiers, sailors and airmen who are used as bait
to uncover espionage activities and to provide them with the names
of foreign agents. This story cronicles the adventures of one such
bait, an Air Force pilot named Joe Fuentes. It is also the story of
his courageous wife, Susan, who leaves a comfortable life and a
newborn baby to find her husband. Her adventures take her to the
limits of her courage.
Restorative Justice has emerged around the world as a potent
challenge to traditional models of criminal justice, and restorative
programmes, policies and legislative reforms are being implemented
in many western nations. However, the underlying aims, values and
limits of this new paradigm remain somewhat uncertain and those
advocating Restorative Justice have rarely engaged in systematic
debate with those defending more traditional conceptions of
criminal justice. This volume, containing contributions from
scholars of international renown, provides an analytic exploration
of Restorative Justice and its potential advantages and
disadvantages. Chapters of the book examine the aims and limiting
principles that should govern Restorative Justice, its appropriate
scope of application, its social and legal contexts, its practice
and impact in a number of jurisdictions and its relation to more
traditional criminal-justice conceptions. These questions are
addressed by twenty distinguished criminologists and legal scholars
in papers which make up this volume. These contributions will help
clarify the aims that Restorative Justice might reasonably hope to
achieve, the limits that should apply in pursuing these aims, and
how restorative strategies might comport with, or replace, other
penal strategies. Contributors: Andrew Ashworth, Anthony E Bottoms,
John Braithwaite, Kathleen Daly, James Dignan, R A Duff, Carolyn
Hoyle, Barbara Hudson, Leena Kurki, Allison Morris, Kent Roach,
Julian V Roberts, Paul Roberts, Mara Schiff, Joanna Shapland,

It's been a long time coming for a dynamic book of poetry, such as
this. The project contains beautiful, faith-filled,
biblically-related poetry that will touch the hearts of people from
all walks of life. The poetry is written and expounded upon to
reveal the author's beliefs and feelings; and when scripture is
used, it reveals exactly what the bible is saying to people today
on a myriad of different topics in our daily living. Your soul will
be indeed lifted to a higher height, touched in such a gentle
manner, taken to a deeper depth of knowledge, and moved beyond
mountains while reading this devotional book of poetry and
commentary. The author sets the tone of this book by being
blatantly honest, but is fair, meek, and wise in his approach at
explanations. He wants you to hear the "attitude," mindset, pulse,
or disposition of your conscience while reading, in hopes that you
won't want to put this work down on the coffee table until
finished. The attitude principles or "truths" contained in the book
are already provided in the Word of God, but are uniquely
demonstrated through poetry arrangements in the context of having a
great, Godly attitude through varying situations. Although a
Christian poetry book, these concepts can be read and practiced by
everyone from all communities, no matter what background all derive
from or environment one may have been exposed to as a child, youth,
teen or even an adult. This book is full of eye opening messages,
but whatever is acquired from this work, it's the writer's
heartfelt desire that you attain something uplifting about a
positive "latitude of attitudes" to help in your daily journey.
Hopefully, these poems will inspire you today to encourage yourself
in the Lord, God
