Daily Reflection is a positive habit that can bring profound change into your life. Taking time out to reflect on your day and consider what went well or not so well is the perfect way to learn from and build on successes, as well as learn from failures and find ways to make improvements, helping you to grow and do better next time. It gives you great ideas, helps you to help others, makes you happier, and it gives perspective in life. In the busyness of daily life, the feeling of overwhelm is increasingly common. A high-pressure lifestyle, whether it's trying to meet tight deadlines or simply trying to be all things to all people, can lead to a setback or a mistake becoming the proverbial straw that breaks the camel's back. In reflection, you gain an opportunity to step back and see the bigger picture. In the grand scheme of things, are the "end of the world" problems you're facing really insurmountable? In reflection, you find calm, and in calm you see things from a different perspective. You can't control what other people do, you can only control what you do - and how you react to what others do - so creating change in your world begins and ends with creating change in yourself. As someone wise once said, "Be the change you want to see in the world." Instead of wasting energy being angry at the world and frustrated by the actions of others, turn your attention to your own thoughts and actions and consider how they influence the world around you. The pages of this book provide a thought-provoking message and two reflection points for each day of the year. You may or may not agree with the reflection points, but that's the beauty of reflection and contemplation. Only through coming to your own conclusions do you begin to gain a greater understanding of how you think, and how your thoughts and beliefs may be influencing your actions and outcomes in life. Every resource you need to be and do better is already within you. Daily Reflection is the key to discovering and becoming your best self.
This is an equal opportunities book - it doesn't matter whether you're male or female, you can still read it - but as the father of a young curious girl - when I was writing this book, I was thinking mostly of girls and young woman., because it's girls and young woman who have the greatest need of the information in these pages. We live today in a world of immense opportunity. There are probably more opportunities for more people today that there have ever been in the past. Whatever goal you have, you can get there. You can become the very best version of YOU it's possible to dream of. If you go about it the right way. And if you believe. Because that's what this book has to tell you. You can get anything you want, be anyone you want, and overcome any obstacle you want. But only if you believe you can. This book is here to tell you, and to reinforce those beliefs until they are absolutely and unshakably part of you.
In his exuberant, conversation style, author Robert N. Jacobs chats to his 14-year-old daughter, Ava, during a road trip through magical Iceland. Rekindling their father-daughter relationship, Robert offers Ava some practical advice on how to live a more abundant life and, therefore, make her life more rewarding. Much of Robert's advice is designed to build confidence by expanding Ava's mind, exploring ideas, and challenging her to think more deeply. Robert helps Ava define her own definition of happiness and success, also giving advice on how to build powerful, positive new habits, and the importance of associating with people who bring out the best in her. He goes on to say that Ava should travel far and wide in the world and inside her mind, and if she manages that, she will discover how infinitesimally small in importance we and our problems really are, and how ignorant we are of the vast majority of what there is to know. In so doing, he encourages Ava to always be curious and to be a lifelong student of life, highlighting what Albert Einstein explained in his 'Paradox of Wisdom': the wiser we become, the more we realise how little we know. Finally, Robert explains his own belief in the importance of living a spiritual life and how it saved his own life. Essentially, Aspire for Abundance is a book about love: the love a father has for his daughter by providing her with what he calls his 'recipe' for living an abundant life. The book is about cause and effect and how every decision has its consequences. Robert shares some of the consequences of wrong decisions made in his life and even though Ava will have to carve out her own path through life by being her authentic self, his hope for her is that she will not have to make any or some of the many mistakes he made. Robert's goal for Ava is that at the end of the road trip she will be more equipped to successfully handle what life throws at her, and better prepared in her understanding of how to thrive and live a more abundant life. Do you think he was successful? Read and find out.
