Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not
used OCR(Optical Character Recognition), as this leads to bad
quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are
images such as portraits, maps, sketches etc We have endeavoured to
keep the quality of these images, so they represent accurately the
original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain
imperfections with these old texts, we feel they deserve to be made
available for future generations to enjoy.

In this book, Robert Nelson reminds us that one of the most
important elements of teaching and learning is to inspire and to be
inspired. Given that inspiration itself has evolved through
metaphor, the inquiry distinguishes inspirational learning by its
peculiarly metaphoric character. We acknowledge that students
respond to passion and enthusiasm, that they seek stimulation,
purpose, motivation and inspiration. But because these triggers
operate through mysterious language and arrive at their modern
usage through metaphor, we have no means of penetrating their
structure or gaining access to their powers. We mishandle
educational practice through a focus on technical process and
machinery rather than the imaginary animating vision that
propagates inspired study through metaphor. This book corrects the
imbalance and argues that metaphors are intrinsic to all our
educational ambitions. It reveals the wide metaphorical backdrop of
learning and teaching that works on an unconscious level and is
only revealed through analysing the language that describes what
matters most. Inviting readers to explore learning in a
non-traditional way, this book will be of interest to researchers
and students in education seeking to understand better the nature
of inspiration.
In the late Cretaceous period of Earth's history, iguanodon Aladar
(voiced by D.B. Sweeney) is separated from his own species while
still inside his egg. He is taken in and brought up by lemurs Zini
and Plio, but when this adoptive family is all by wiped out by a
meteor shower, Aladar and his friends are forced to join a mixed
herd of dinosaurs who are migrating to a new nesting ground. This
tribe is led by the hard-headed Kron (Samuel E. Wright), whose
'survival of the fittest' approach clashes with Aladar's more
altruistic nature.

Wind Energy Systems is designed for undergraduate engineering
courses, with a focus on multidisciplinary design of a wind energy
system. The text covers basic wind power concepts and components -
wind characteristics and modeling, rotor aerodynamics, lightweight
flexible structures, wind farms, aerodynamics, wind turbine
control, acoustics, energy storage, and economics. These topics are
applied to produce a new conceptual wind energy design, showing the
interplay of various design aspects in a complete system. An
ongoing case study demonstrates the integration of various
component topics, and MATLAB examples are included to show
computerized design analysis procedures and techniques.
Curricular peer mentoring is a programmatic approach to enrich
student learning and engagement in postsecondary courses in which
instructors welcome a more experienced undergraduate student into a
credit course they are teaching. The student then serves as peer
mentor to the students enrolled. Peer mentors can provide a variety
of peer-appropriate, course-specific mentoring, tutoring,
facilitation and leadership roles and activities that complement
the roles of the course s instructor and teaching assistants both
in classroom settings and beyond. A program provides training and
ongoing support for a larger number of peer mentors and
instructional teams and manages recruitment and program research
and quality. This volume provides research findings, definitions,
theories, and practical program descriptions as a foundation for
program development and research of undergraduate curricular peer
mentoring programs in higher education. This work builds on a long
history of higher education program development and collects a
significant amount of literature that has previously been
scattered."
Called ‘a master of timeless American style’ by Vogue, Markham Roberts is renowned for his boundless creativity and ability to work in a wide range of styles. In this, his second book, he examines his working method, identifying the key elements of a project and explaining how he addresses them. He begins with his top priority – taking into account his clients’ point of view by interpreting their needs and reflecting their style, rather than imposing his own vision. In the process, he helps them focus and edit, respecting their wishes while making it work. Other elements include establishing a sense of place, layering and embellishing to make spaces more personal and interesting, acknowledging the need for practicality in the choice of materials, and doing the unexpected, from upholstering walls to mixing disparate materials and styles of furniture.
Throughout, specially commissioned photographs of an array of his latest projects illustrate his solutions to the challenges each of the elements pose. He concludes the book with a chapter on a single project that encompasses all of the elements, making this book a must-have resource for anyone interested in interior design.
