This is a comprehensive, lavishly illustrated review of orthopaedic
oncology that is multi-disciplinary, integrative and highly
practical. Introductory chapters cover overviews of the basics of
bone and soft tissue tumors - the pathology, radiology and surgical
and oncologic management. These are followed by chapters covering
all tumor types organized according to the 2013 WHO classification
of bone and soft tissue tumors. Each class of tumor is dealt with
in detail, with case presentations illustrating how they would be
diagnosed and managed in a clinical setting. The range of variation
of each tumor type is indicated with appropriate radiological and
pathological images. Detailed tables and flow charts provide quick
access to vital diagnosis and staging information for each tumor
type. This book provides an expert, case-based approach to
orthopaedic oncology and patient care for trainees and practising
orthopaedic surgeons, pathologists and radiologists. A practical

The Teacher's Book has over 100 pages of teaching notes which
provide comprehensive support for every lesson. A reproduction of
the Student's Book lesson on each page of the Teacher's Book makes
lesson planning and marking easier. Optional activities throughout
the Teacher's Book offer flexibility for managing classes of all
abilities. The Teacher's Resource Disk offers even more material
which you can adapt to suit your classes. Unit and Progress tests
at three levels with A/B versions means evaluation and testing is
comprehensive and secure. Photocopiable worksheets at three levels
provide additional structured grammatical, lexical and
communicative practice for each unit. Plus, 'How to...' resources
offer practical advice on teaching mixed-ability classes, getting
your students to talk, and other common classroom management
issues.
The Workbook includes exercises in grammar, vocabulary and skills,
which mirror the language and skills work in the Student's Book
pages. There are three levels of practice activities: one-star
activities provide basic revision and language manipulation;
two-star activities involve more productive exercises; and
three-star activities are more open and offer more challenge. There
is a two-page Progress review at the end of each unit. These
exercises check understanding of all the vocabulary, grammar and
skills presented in the unit. They also provide a record of what
has been learned in the unit. The Self-evaluation section
encourages students to think about their progress. This type of
activity is also very helpful in students' development as learners
because it encourages them to take responsibility for their own
learning. There is a listening exercise in every Progress review.
The audio for this is available on the online Practice Kit.
With disks for each level of the course, the Class Audio CDs
contain all the audio material for the Student's Book.
Each level consists of 8 theme-based units plus a shorter Starter
unit. Centred on the Engage, Study, Activate methodology, each
lesson is highly structured, building students' knowledge and
confidence before culminating in a final productive exercise to
enable students to personalise what they have learnt. A strong
communicative strand runs throughout the Student's Book with plenty
of speaking exercises and an entire lesson dedicated to speaking
and pronunciation skills. Video is integrated into Vocabulary
lessons to help students capture the target language and put it
into context. Grammar Animations can be used alongside every
Grammar lesson to reinforce the rule being taught and make language
structures more memorable. On-page features such as Key Phrases and
Study Strategy boxes support students while developing their
ability to learn independently. Fast Finisher activities throughout
every unit and Options pages at the back of the Student's Book
provide opportunities to expand on the core material to suit
different learner types.
