Poems written by Ruddy McCaffrey with an intriguing view towards
society.
Using both Father Kevin Wall's eidetic matrix of "the relational
unity of being" and Edith Stein's remarkable synoptic view of
intentionality in both Aquinas and Husserl, this book uncovers
purely logical ground for a subalternate eidetic science called
"convergent phenomenology," itself located at the inmost depths of
Husserlian phenomenology. Convergent phenomenology emerges as a
distinctively new discipline dealing with relation-like objectivity
as opposed to the thing-like objectivity of traditional
phenomenology. This has grand implications for the way we as humans
conceive of God and being. The book thus benefits theologians,
logicians, and phenomenologists by revealing the constitutive
interrelationality of transcendental logic in an utterly new light
as already flowering forth into formal ontology itself. What
emerges is a rich conception of divinity and humanity.
In this book, Jim Ruddy has proceeded deep into the hub-center of
Husserl's transcendental subjectivity and unearthed an utterly new
phenomenological method. A vast, originative a priori science
emerges for the reader. Ruddy presents a unique and powerful
eidetic science wherein the object consciousness of Husserl is
suddenly shown to point beyond itself to the ultimate theme of the
pure subject consciousness of God as He is in Himself. Thus, the
book opens up an endlessly new, unrestricted realm of objective
material for phenomenology to exfoliate and describe. This is an
important work for both general phenomenologists and for scholars
of Husserl, Aquinas, and Edith Stein.
Theodore Roosevelt's ideas about the nation's past and his own
times can be found sprinkled throughout his voluminous writings,
but these pearls of thought (as one of his book reviewers described
them in 1888) have never before been pulled together in one volume.
Now, through the nimble editing of Daniel Ruddy, "Theodore
Roosevelt's History of the United States" provides readers with
Roosevelt's unique view of American history from the Revolution to
the early twentieth century. An astute historical observer,
Roosevelt was a hanging judge who did not hesitate to render harsh
verdicts about leaders and events from America's past. His
razor-sharp opinions cut to the core, capturing the essence of
obscure and prominent figures alike: Andrew Jackson was not more
than half civilized; John Tyler a politician of monumental
littleness; and, William McKinley had no more backbone than a
chocolate eclair. Roosevelt had no hesitation about criticizing his
contemporaries, either, especially Woodrow Wilson, who he believed
was rotten through and through. What emerges from these pages is,
of course, as revealing about Roosevelt as it is about the Unites
States; it's a wonderful new angle on both American history and on
one of the country's most energetic, brilliant and entertaining
men.
This is the beautiful guide to French provincial furniture that no
serious buyer or enthusiast can afford to be without. It presents
the key types of country antique furniture in fourteen separate
regions of France, explains the differences in their construction
and decoration which will enable you to identify them, and
describes the twenty-one different woods used to make these
provincial pieces. Separate chapters convey the techniques used by
the traditional cabinetmakers who created these sought-after
antiques and portray the delightful country interiors for which
they were originally made. A helpful glossary of relevant French
words and phrases is also included, and the book is illustrated
with over 200 color and black and white photographs of
representative pieces including value ranges. This is a new and
welcome guide to the charming and distinctive provincial furniture
of France.
The Clinical Manual for Evaluation and Treatment of Sleep
Disorders is the first clinical text devoted solely to the
diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders that is both
comprehensive and conveniently portable. The book's 13 chapters
offer a concise, step-by-step method of differential diagnosis for
some of the most common sleep complaints encountered in today's
professional clinical practices. And, unlike most other clinical
textbooks, its small size gives it a broad accessibility.
The manual begins with an overview of sleep physiology and
pathology, including eight common laboratory procedures and three
major diagnostic nomenclatures for sleep disorders. Each of the
chapters that follow provides an overview of symptoms, tests, and
various behavioral and pharmacologic treatments for a wide range of
sleep conditions, including insomnias, breathing disorders,
parasomnias, and several common medical disorders that are often
associated with sleep complaints. The latter chapters discuss sleep
disorders in distinct patient demographics -- specifically
children, women (during pregnancy, the postpartum period, and
menopause) and the increasing population of older adults. The book
concludes with a chapter devoted to pharmacologic interventions,
detailing the use of and clinical issues associated with 25
different types of drugs.
Additional benefits of the manual include: - A "Pearls and
Pitfalls" section of bulleted facts at the beginning of each
chapter- Figures, tables, and helpful takeaways (such as a
differential diagnosis decision tree and patient questionnaires) in
many chapters- An appendix of 65 frequently used abbreviations
related to sleep complaints and disorders- Patient handouts that
include sleep tips and information on insomnia, abdominal
breathing, delayed sleep phase syndrome, melatonin and light
treatments, sleep walking, and jet lag
No other clinical text provides such a breadth of information on
sleep disorders in such a compact, easy-to-carry volume. Its
extensive content makes this book ideal for nursing, psychiatric,
social work, and family practice settings, as well as a useful
teaching implement in medical classrooms. By classifying sleep
disorders according to clinical presentation, patient demographic,
and related conditions, the Clinical Manual for Evaluation and
Treatment of Sleep Disorders offers clinicians a valuable reference
tool in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.

This book provides clinicians, consultants, and healthcare
administrators with a roadmap to establishing a systemic,
patient-centered, family-oriented behavioral health service that is
integrated into a healthcare setting. Healthcare that goes beyond
biomedical issues to address our whole biopsychosocial selves,
produces better outcomes for patients and families. Integrating
behavioral health into medical settings requires an understanding
of the interplay of multiple systemic layers in American
healthcare. The existing literature on integration largely fails to
address the "big picture" of integrated services and systems,
including operations, clinical processes, and financial
sustainability elements. A Systemic Approach to Behavioral
Healthcare Integration summarizes the literature on the
impact of integrating behavioral health care into medical settings,
on the role of families in health maintenance and chronic disease
management, and on team science and applying family systems
theory/relational science to the teams that are now essential to
healthcare.
