Protests of neoliberal globalization have proliferated in recent years, not least in response to the financial crisis, austerity and increasing inequality. But how do religious groups organize themselves in response to these issues? This book systematically studies the relationship of religious activism towards neoliberal globalization. It considers how religious organizations often play a central role in the resistance against global capitalism, endeavouring to offer alternatives and developments for reform. But it also examines the other side of the coin, showing how many religious groups help to diffuse neoliberal values, promote and reinforce practices of capitalism. Drawing on a unique set of case studies from around the world, the chapters examine a range of groups and their practices in order to provide a thorough examination of the relationship between religion and the global political economy.

This book shows how religions and their internal struggles shape key actors and processes in the international political economy. It highlights how fundamentalist, business-oriented Christians in the United States were instrumental in the neoliberal turn in US hegemony, how Christianity, in the form of prosperity religion, transformed Latin America, and how reactionary religious movements sharpened state competition through illiberal politics in Turkey, India, and elsewhere. But reactionary movements are also confronted by liberationist or more progressive movements, such as Islamic feminism, that seek to build a more inclusive global economy. Religions and their ideas should be seen as a constitutive part of neoliberal globalization and its contestation in IPE.

This volume is dedicated to theoretical contributions and systematic empirical studies of political, economic, and cultural formations which cross the borders and boundaries of states. The focus is on the main areas of public policy: security, human rights, legitimacy of political systems, welfare, and developments in the Global South. This volume looks at the role of neoliberalism in the institutionalization of differential rules for capital and migration flows in the global economy.

Das Burogebaude fur Doppelmayr, den Weltmarktfuhrer im Seilbahnbau, ist ein aktuelles Beispiel fur innovativen und flexiblen Burobau. Bis vor kurzem war das Unternehmen auf mehrere Standorte in Vorarlberg aufgeteilt. 2013 traf man nach einem geladenen Wettbewerb die Entscheidung, ein neues Gebaude fur bis zu 600 Angestellte nach den Planen des Wiener Architekturburos AllesWirdGut (AWG) zu realisieren. Der Entwurf reflektiert die ursprungliche Aufteilung auf mehrere Standorte, die fruher auch als "Doppelmayr-Dorf" bezeichnet wurden. Neun miteinander verbundene Baukoerper bieten eine Vielzahl von Atmospharen, Begegnungszonen und abwechslungsreich gestalteten Arbeitsplatzen. Das Buch dokumentiert das Buro Hohe Brucke in allen wesentlichen Aspekten.
