Boilermakers beware: There's a dark and secret side to to
Lafayette's history that is sure to send shivers down the spine.
From storied specters and urban legends, like Amelia Earhart's
tragic figure haunting hangar number one at Purdue University
Airport and sightings of the ever-elusive Bigfoot, to haunted
houses and battlefields, with a guillotine suicide in the Lahr
Hotel and the Trail of Death, authors Dorothy Salvo Davis and W.C.
Madden leave no stone unturned as they examine the tragic past and
the haunted present of Lafayette. With stories focusing on West
Lafayette and White, Carroll and Warren Counties, "Haunted
Lafayette" is a chilling read that no ghost enthusiast should miss.
The role of data fusion has been expanding in recent years through
the incorporation of pervasive applications, where the physical
infrastructure is coupled with information and communication
technologies, such as wireless sensor networks for the internet of
things (IoT), e-health and Industry 4.0. In this edited reference,
the authors provide advanced tools for the design, analysis and
implementation of inference algorithms in wireless sensor networks.
The book is directed at the sensing, signal processing, and ICTs
research communities. The contents will be of particular use to
researchers (from academia and industry) and practitioners working
in wireless sensor networks, IoT, E-health and Industry 4.0
applications who wish to understand the basics of inference
problems. It will also be of interest to professionals, and
graduate and PhD students who wish to understand the fundamental
concepts of inference algorithms based on intelligent and
energy-efficient protocols.
Between August 1846 and April 1847, Guiseppe Mazzini, in London
exile, published six articles in English in the "People's Journal,"
the last of which was on Communism. With these articles, which
became known in his native country in an 1852 Italian reworking,
Mazzini powerfully inserted himself into the debate on the nature
of democracy, alongside the most illustrious intellectuals of the
time, Tocqueville, Blanc, Cabet, and Proudon.
In two of his pieces, Mazzini answered the democratic
communists-the Fraternal Democrats-who in 1847 invited the
twenty-eight year old Karl Marx to London to rebut Mazzini's
perceptive criticisms of communism and to explore a new possible
elaboration of the ideology. Mastellone confronts the English text
of Mazzini with the German text of Marx and traces an almost
forgotten theoretical contest that has been ignored, but remains
crucial for an understanding of two fundamental movements of the
modern world: communism and democracy.

Arts Therapies and The Mental Health of Children and Young People
presents innovative research, theory and practice in the arts
therapies. The different social, cultural and political contexts
and developmental age groups illustrate and underscore the richness
and diversity of contemporary arts therapies' creative response to
the needs of children and young people in contrasting locations.
The book represents an acknowledgement of the high rates of mental
disorders in children and young people and addresses this subject.
In presenting an array of responses from arts therapists working
with children and young people in different contexts and countries,
the book highlights the particular features of distinct art forms,
yet also points to the potential dialogue between disciplines.
Chapters show how the expressive potential and appeal of the arts,
when facilitated within the therapeutic relationship, are crucial
in fostering hope in the future and the capacity for trust in self
and others. This book will be of great interest to arts therapists
as well as academics and postgraduate students in the fields of
arts therapies, social work, psychotherapy, health psychology, and
education.

Writing and Unrecognized Academic Labor acknowledges that much of
the work we do to sustain the academy remains without recognition.
It demonstrates that it is not only published work that influences
development and innovation in scholarship. The book rethinks the
"publish or perish" system to show that good, unrecognized work is
a vital part of scaffolding the growth of the academy and
individual academic careers. It takes openness and transparency as
a blueprint to outline plans for not only producing but also
reimagining key markers of academic life, such as dissertations
without anxieties of influence, conferences without directors,
journals without gatekeepers, large-sample peer review, and
teaching and learning beyond the university discourse. A
sustainable community model of academic life should have belonged
to each of us from the start. Author James Salvo shows us that
"nothing will be lost when everything is given away. Thus, we ought
to share fearlessly." This book is suitable for all graduate
students and researchers in qualitative inquiry and across
disciplines who seek a new model for the value of their work.

This book examines the role of the evaluation models in
decision-making processes for the construction of circular cities
in the digital revolution. In particular, the book explores the
need for a rethinking of development models proposed by the
circular economy which requires the valorization of natural, social
and economic capital. Urban environment represents a crucial field
of analysis in which applying the circular-economy principles in
order to steer a course towards a sustainable economy characterized
by processes meant to create value instead of extracting it, which
put a step forward in the pathway towards a better future in terms
of economic, environmental and social effects and desirable
outcomes. In this context, the design of urban regeneration
processes and housing environments requires the adoption of
inclusive analysis/assessment models combined with the structuring
and organization of public/private investments that can contribute
to creating positive natural and social impacts as well as economic
and financial returns. This fundamental paradigm shift is
accentuated in the current context, in which the digital revolution
is reinventing the future and calls for a rethinking and
reformulation of value systems in the era of technological process
innovations, while respecting economic, natural and social
ecosystems.
Exploring the relationship between postindustrial writing and
developments in energy production, manufacturing, and agriculture,
Michael J. Salvo shows how technological and industrial innovation
relies on communicative and organizational suppleness. Through
representative case studies, Salvo demonstrates the ways in which
technical communicators formulate opportunities that link resources
with need. His book is a supple articulation of the opportunities
and pitfalls that come with great change.

Drama, Creativity and Intersubjectivity presents a new theoretical
approach to dramatherapy. The book examines the key concepts of
creativity and intersubjectivity in detail, through a comparison of
their manifestations in children's life and the major scientific
studies and developing research in the fields. Linking these
concepts, Salvo Pitruzzella argues that 'identity' as a construct
is now outmoded, and needs to be replaced with a more relational
model. His ideas impact on dramatherapy theory, updating its basic
tenets, and providing insight into how it practically works, with a
focus on imagination as a major tool to support change. Drama,
Creativity and Intersubjectivity will appeal to dramatherapists in
training and practice, as well as other professionals in the field
of arts therapies, plus those with a general interest in Creative
Arts Therapies.

Introduction to Dramatherapy provides a theoretical framework for
the practice of dramatherapy, and examines the relationship between
the 'self' and the 'other'; the understanding of which, the author
argues, is key to harnessing the full potential of dramatherapy as
a healing medium.
In Part 1, the individual is introduced in terms of the dramatic
metaphor, concentrating on the central issue of identity and the
mediation between the internal and external worlds. In Part 2 the
elements that make up dramatic reality, specifically play,
narrative and role, are examined, and in the final part we witness
the value of dramatherapy in practice in practice in a range of
clinical settings.
This is not simply a 'how to do dramatherapy' book - it provides an
essential foundation in the theory of the subject that will be of
great interest to those studying or practicing dramatherapy.
In The Responsible Fashion Company, Rinaldi and Testa argue that
the fashion industry is at a crossroads: the need for a global
shift to a sustainable model has never been more urgent. Yet, they
demonstrate that we are witnessing a revolution led by conscious
consumers and enlightened companies, who are redefining the rules
of the fashion market. The question is: when will the rest of the
industry catch up? Rinaldi and Testa raise a fundamental but often
neglected issue in the fashion sustainability debate: long-term
equilibrium can only be achieved by integrating economic goals with
environmental, social and ethical values. "The Responsible Fashion
Company" provides a clear overview of the theory, challenges and
opportunities of sustainability in the industry and demonstrates
how fashion companies can achieve competitive advantage through
sustainable innovation. The authors show how leading fashion
companies are challenging traditional thinking and present
inspiring examples from pioneers such as Gucci, Levi's, Timberland
and Brunello Cucinelli, who create quality products without leaving
a negative impact behind. Refreshing and timely, The Responsible
Fashion Company is essential reading for the socially conscious
consumer and anyone with a professional or personal interest in the
fashion, design and luxury industries.
