Metals are used at an extremely high rate in the industrial and manufacturing fields. Exemplary properties including strength and ductility have made this material highly dynamic; however, the risk of corrosion remains a vital issue. The study of corrosion prevention has attracted interest from researchers and professionals as new technologies are emerging that can assist in the prevention of material destruction. However, research is lacking on the application of these protective technologies within specific fields. New Challenges and Industrial Applications for Corrosion Prevention and Control provides emerging research exploring the theoretical and practical aspects of protective methods against corrosion and the implementation of these techniques within a wide span of professional disciplines. Featuring coverage on a broad range of topics such as molecular modeling, surface treatments, and biomaterials, this book is ideally designed for engineers, industrial chemists, material scientists, researchers, engineers, academicians, practitioners, and students seeking current research on the technological advancements in corrosion protection in various professional scopes.
Materials Development and Processing for Biomedical Applications focuses on various methods of manufacturing, surface modifications, and advancements in biomedical applications. This book examines in detail about five different aspects including, materials properties, development, processing, surface coatings, future perspectives and fabrication of advanced biomedical devices. Fundamental aspects are discussed to better understand the processing of various biomedical materials such as metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, etc. A wide range of surface treatments are covered in this book that will be helpful for the readers to understand the importance of surface treatments and their future perspectives. Additional Features Include: Examines various properties of biomedical materials at the beginning in several chapters which will enrich the fundamental knowledge of the readers. Discusses advancements in various fields of biomedical applications. Provides a glimpse of characterization techniques for the evaluation of material properties. Addresses biocompatibility, biocorrosion, and tribocorrosion. This book explores new and novel strategies for the development of materials and their biomedical applications. It will serve as a comprehensive resource for both students and scientists working in materials and biomedical sciences.
In this book, new developments based on conceptual density functional theory (CDFT) and its applications in chemistry are discussed. It also includes discussion of some applications in corrosion and conductivity and synthesis studies based on CDFT. The electronic structure principles-such as the electronegativity equalization principle, the hardness equalization principle, the electrophilicity equalization principle, and the nucleophilicity equalization principle, along studies based on these electronic structure principles-are broadly explained. In recent years some novel methodologies have been developed in the field of CDFT. These methodologies have been used to explore mutual relationships between the descriptors of CDFT, namely electronegativity, hardness, etc. The mutual relationship between the electronegativity and the hardness depend on the electronic configuration of the neutral atomic species. The volume attempts to cover almost all such methodology. Conceptual Density Function Theory and Its Application in the Chemical Domain will be an appropriate guide for research students as well as the supervisors in PhD programs. It will also be valuable resource for inorganic chemists, physical chemists, and quantum chemists. The reviews, research articles, short communications, etc., covered by this book will be appreciated by theoreticians as well as experimentalists.

The growth of technology for chemical assessment has led to great developments in the investigation of chemical reactivity in recent years, but key information is often dispersed across many different research fields. Combining both original principles and the cutting-edge theories used in chemical reactivity analysis, Chemical Reactivity, Volume 1 present the latest developments in theoretical chemistry and its application for the assessment of chemical processes. Beginning with an exploration of different theories and principles relating to electronic structure and reactivity of confined electronic systems, the book goes on to highlight key information on such topics as Dyson orbitals, target-ion overlaps, reaction fragility, magnetizability principles and the Fuki function. Density Functional Theory is discussed in relation to numerous different principles and approaches, with further information on constrained methods and diabatic models, bonding evolution theory, orbital-based population analysis models and charge transfer models, and Quantum chemistry and QTAIM. Consolidating the knowledge of a global team of experts in the field, Chemical Reactivity, Volume 1: Theories and Principles is a useful resource for both students and researchers interested in gaining greater understanding of the principles and theories underpinning chemical reactivity analysis.

Exploring both traditional and advanced methods, Chemical Reactivity, Volume 2: Approaches and Applications present the latest approaches and strategies for the computational assessment of chemical reactivity. Following an insightful introduction, the book begins with an overview of conformer searching techniques before progressing to explore numerous different techniques and methods, including confined environments, quantum similarity descriptors, volume-based thermodynamics and polarizability. A unified approach to the rules of aromaticity is followed by methods for assessing interaction energies and the role of electron density for varied different analyses. Algorithms for confirmer searching, partitioning and a whole range of quantum chemical methods are also discussed. Consolidating the knowledge of a global team of experts in the field, Chemical Reactivity, Volume 2: Approaches and Applications is a useful resource for both students and researchers interested in applying and refining their use of the latest approaches for assessing chemical reactivity in their own work.
