K-12 schools and higher education institutions are experiencing
steady racial and cultural shifts that are affecting interactions,
relationships, and ultimately, school and student success. The lack
of cultural humility and civility in these spaces create conditions
for conflict to grow between the primary stakeholders. Conflict
recovery is an approach to address the overall issue by engaging in
reflection, renewal, and restoration of broken and bruised
relationships. It is how one acknowledges their authenticity and
cultural conditioning to inspire authentic interactions and
relationship. The book begins by suggesting a reframing of how we
conceptualize diversity and equity. Then, you explore the origins
and intersection of cultural humility and civility and the
importance of those concepts to support student success. There are
opportunities to engage with the content through thought-provoking
questions and you will follow how a fictitious school implements
the concepts to support conflict recovery, especially when those
conflicts are grounded in cultural biases and misunderstandings of
others. The section half of the book is dedicated to the role of
teacher, leader, counselor in K-12, and provides suggestions and
ideas for higher education institutions to consider as they create
policies, practices, and experiences that will allow students to
further engage their cultural humility.

During their heyday as mega-successful television and pop music
stars in the 1960s, THE MONKEES were often slagged off by critics
as a pre-fabricated industry 'product' whose members possessed no
special talents. But times have changed, and over 45 years later
The Monkees have not only gained critical respectability, but have
amassed a loyal following of fans and collectors who treasure every
bit of Monkees audio and video that has surfaced over the years.
Collecting this material is no easy task. In GOOD CLEAN FUN, Scott
Parker takes a look at the audio and visual materials documenting
the early history of The Monkees, from the earliest TV work of
Micky Dolenz in the 1950s series Circus Boy through to the first
break-up of the group in 1970. The book is intended both as a
tribute to one of the greatest and most enduring bands of the 1960s
and beyond, and to the fans and collectors who adore them to this
day.

WHO DID WHAT? (Volume One of a series) explores the surviving audio
and video documents of The Who from their origins as Shepherd's
Bush Mod geezers The High Numbers through to their international
breakthrough with the rock opera Tommy. Included are examinations
of studio and live material, interviews, TV shows, bootlegs and
more.
In the year 1969 the rock press began circulating a rumor (or was
it fact?) that budding rock genius Frank Zappa was planning a
twelve-album box set (or was it five albums?- or nine?- or ten?) of
unreleased live recordings (or was it studio?), to be titled The
History and Collected Improvisations of The Mothers of Invention.
Unreleased recordings by important rock artists often achieve
iconic status; consider the Beatles' Get Back, the Beach Boys'
Smile, or Jimi Hendrix's First Rays of the New Rising Sun. In each
of these cases, public demand eventually led to the release of a
post-hoc version of the lost work: for the Beatles, Let It
Be...Naked; for the Beach Boys, Brian Wilson's SMiLE; for Hendrix,
the MCA First Rays compilation. Zappa's History set has been every
bit as sought after as these other titles - but has never seen the
light of day. Or has it? In this book, authors Philip Lee and Scott
Parker delve into the history of this unreleased Holy Grail of
unreleased Frank Zappa projects.
In his latest book KISS...Documented, Scott Parker examines the
various recordings that were made--in both audio and visual
formats--of KISS during the years 1970 through 1977, taking a look
at the history of the group from their humble beginnings as four
struggling New York musicians through to the very pinnacle of rock
and roll superstardom. The book features extensive reviews of all
live recordings of KISS from this period as well as detailed
examinations of their TV appearances, recorded interviews and more.
This book is the first part of an ongoing series chronicling the
history of The Hottest Band In The World through the recorded
documentation of the group.
