This is a collection of poems and lyrics inspired by characters and
situations in "The Vault of Souls", Tampa's premier performance art
experience with a dark and sinister twist. The residents of The
Vault of Souls are paranormal personages from a time gone by. Many
of them have been trapped since the early 1920's. This book gives
guests who experienced this one-of-a-kind live performance a deeper
understanding of the interactive characters. But don't worry, this
book is just as entertaining and disturbing for those who didn't
get the chance to participate in the live performances. Scott
Swenson is known for his whimsically twisted approach to poetry.
One critic of his last book (Dreaming in Shades of Fear) commented
that Swenson's style is a "...twisted mix of Edgar Allan Poe and
Dr. Seuss..." and this book continues to refine this style.
How the Author describes this book... This is a collection of
poetry and prose written between 2015 and 2019. These pieces were
inspired by nightmares, late night walks with the dog, jumprope
rhymes, horror comics and several glasses of wine after midnight. I
was able to revisit a character created in a previous book, explore
the minds of a few psychopaths and even sneak in a bit of hidden
political commentary. These stories and poems run the gamut from
sarcastic to caustic. The artwork is a series of acrylic paintings
I did specifically for the book. The cover art was created in color
and the five illustrations within the book were all painted in
black and white. I am very excited that I am finally able to get
these pieces out of my head and into your hands...enjoy.
