This book provides a collection of papers from the Ninth Workshop
on Computing: Theory and Practice, WCTP 2019 devoted to theoretical
and practical approaches to computation, which was organized by
four top universities in Japan and the Philippines: Tokyo Institute
of Technology, Osaka University, the University of the Philippines
Diliman, and De La Salle University. The proceedings provide a
broad overview of recent research trends in computer science
research in Asia, particularly in these two countries. The papers
included in the proceedings focus on both theoretical and practical
aspects of computations, such as programming language theory,
modeling of software systems, applications of machine learning,
empathic computing, and various applications of information
technology.
This volume contains the papers presented at the 8th Workshop on
Computing: Theory and Practice, WCTP 2018 and is devoted to
theoretical and practical approaches to computation. The conference
was organized by four top universities in Japan and the
Philippines: the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Osaka University,
the University of the Philippines Diliman, and De La Salle
University. The proceedings provide a broad view of the recent
developments in computer science research in Asia, with an emphasis
on Japan and the Philippines. The papers focus on both theoretical
and practical aspects of computations, such as programming language
theory, modeling of software systems, empathic computing, and
various applications of information technology. The book will be of
interest to academic and industrial researchers interested in
recent developments in computer science research.

This book comprises the refereed proceedings of the Workshop on
Computation: Theory and Practice (WCTP)-2012, held in Manila, The
Philippines, in September 2012. The workshop was organized by the
Tokyo Institute of Technology, the Institute of Scientific and
Industrial Research-Osaka University, the University of the
Philippines Diliman, and De La Salle University-Manila and was
devoted to theoretical and practical approaches to computation. The
22 revised full papers presented in this volume were carefully
reviewed. They deal with biologically inspired computational
modeling, programming language theory, advanced studies in
networking, and empathic computing.
Computation should be a good blend of theory and practice, and
researchers in the field should create algorithms to address real
world problems, putting equal weight on analysis and
implementation. Experimentation and simulation can be viewed as
yielding to refined theories or improved applications. The Workshop
on Computation: Theory and Practice (WCTP)-2011 was the first
workshop organized jointly by the Tokyo Institute of Technology,
the Institute of Scientific and Industrial Research-Osaka
University, the University of the Philippines Diliman, and De La
Salle University-Manila devoted to theoretical and practical
approaches to computation. The aim of the workshop was to present
the latest developments by theoreticians and practitioners in
academe and industry working to address computational problems that
can directly impact the way we live in society. This book comprises
the refereed proceedings of WCTP-2011, held in Quezon City, the
Philippines, in September 2011. The 16 carefully reviewed and
revised full papers presented here deal with biologically inspired
computational modeling, programming language theory, advanced
studies in networking, and empathic computing..

Theory and Practice, WCTP 2017 devoted to theoretical and practical
approaches to computation. This workshop was organized by four top
universities in Japan and the Philippines: Tokyo Institute of
Technology, Osaka University, University of the Philippines
Diliman, and De La Salle University. The proceedings provides a
view of the current movement in computational research in these two
countries. The papers included in the proceedings focus on both:
theoretical and practical aspects of computation.
