Learner characteristics have been at the center of second language
acquisition and foreign language education research in response to
the puzzling questions: Why are there often large differences in
second language (L2) learning achievement and why do many learners,
though proficient first language speakers, not succeed in learning
a L2? The papers in this book explore and challenge the three key
factors in individual difference research: language aptitude,
language learning strategies and motivation.
The purpose of this study has been to ascertain the level of usage
of electronic information sources and services by the engineering
academics of Rajasthan in teaching, learning, research and other
activities. The study examines the level of engineering academics'
ICT skills and types of electronic information sources being used.
It also identifies the purposes of electronic information and its
impact on academic and other works of the users. The study also
highlights the barriers in using electronic resources. The
acceptance and satisfaction level of the users also counted in the
study. The users being of engineering background, the expectations
of using electronic resources have also been considered in positive
manner. As predicted, the results of the study have been
encouraging and they support the hypotheses as drafted. The study
shows that the engineering academics have been quite nearer in
using electronic sources and services. Most of the users have been
using different types of electronic resources for information
retrieving including latest methods of learning and communications
e.g. E-Groups, Virtual/Video Conferencing.
