These poems are about life-both the little things scattered here and there and the great events that stand-alone like seasoned rocks. Through the prism of these poems, the poet is looking at polarities that define the context of our being-good and evil, sacred and profane, inner and outer, big and small, objective and subjective. We experience life in brief segments of time called "moments." They come and go. Moments become our memories, memories condition our thinking, and we are thus condemned to lead a life of loss and sorrow, fighting shadows that are basically our own creation. As a result, we move further away from the great stream of life that is harmonious and peaceful at its core. Arranged around four themes-life, love, work, and beyond-these poems take the reader on a journey that proceeds from the purely personal to widely shared experiences of living, loving, leading, and connecting with the unknown. The beauty of the written word is enhanced by 25 images that illuminate different themes covered in the book.
With the help of an ancient fable from India, this book addresses the role of evolving consciousness in promoting personal development and opening possibilities for self-realization. The idea that human consciousness gradually unfolds and spirals during the course of one's entire life is now well accepted. But a lack of effort can cause people to become stuck at a lower level. As a result, they may never reach the heights of creativity and self-actualization to which they aspire. The Summit provides answers to several intricate questions: * What is consciousness? * What is our true potential as human beings? * What holds us back from realizing our potential? * What integral practices are helpful in moving us from one level to the next? * What happens when we reach the highest level of consciousness? Part Two of the book is a Practitioner's Guide that contains maps, integral practices, practical exercises, meditations, affirmations and other tools, covering the whole spectrum of body, mind, heart, soul, and spirit, to empower anyone trying to achieve high levels of self-awareness. The book provides resources for gaining extraordinary outcomes in one's personal and professional life. and guide you on the path to personal greatness
Rajinder Singh Bedi: Selected Short Stories curates some of the best work by the Urdu writer, whose contribution to Urdu fiction makes him a pivotal force within modern Indian literature. Born in Sialkot, Punjab, Rajinder Singh Bedi (1915-1984) lived many lives-as a student and postmaster in Lahore, a venerated screenwriter for popular Hindi films and a winner of both the Sahitya Akademi as well as the Filmfare awards. Considered one of the prominent progressive writers of modern Urdu fiction, Bedi was an architect of contemporary Urdu writing along with leading lights such as Munshi Premchand and Saadat Hasan Manto. Written between 1940 and 1975, the fifteen short stories included in this collection comprise favorites like 'Garam Coat' (Woollen Coat), 'Lajwanti', 'Apne Dukh Mujhe De Do' (Give Me Your Sorrows), 'Rahman ke Joote' (Rahman's Shoes) and others. Bedi's stories dissect human emotions with grim precision as he navigates the everyday lives of men and women, exposing social inequities and economic problems.
