This book unfolds a vision for philosophical theology centered on
the practices of the care of the self, the city, and creation.
Rooted in Paul's articulation of the wisdom of the cross, and in
conversation with ecological, radical, and political theologies;
continental philosophy; and political ecology, it addresses the
challenge of injustice and ecological catastrophe. Part one reads 1
Corinthians as an exercise in reading and writing that shapes and
changes relationships and capabilities. Part two follows this
alternative path for theology through Derrida and Kierkegaard, and
neglected trajectories in Origen, Augustine, and Luther. Along the
way, reading and writing are explored as exercises that transform
selves, communities, and even habitats. They are creaturely acts
that can scandalize the dominant orders of consumption and
competition for the ends of love and justice. This is a
philosophical theology engaged with political ecology, exercises
that help cultivate new creation.
Blue Chip executives are dropping like flies ... the stock market
rallies ... just a coincidence? Not really. There is a new serial
killer on the loose. This one murders business executives who don't
maximize shareholder values
When agent Max Patterson takes time off from his FBI profiling
duties to pursue an MBA, he does not expect to become involved in
the highest profile case in Bureau history. With the help of Nora,
a fellow MBA student and former psychic, Max must zero in on the
killer while avoiding Charlie Crabney, the escaped serial murderer
who loves to swing a knife and hates Max with a passion.
"The Blue Chip Murders" is a unique business mystery that
teaches while it entertains. A unique case study forms the backdrop
for each murder, combining the principles of corporate finance with
political intrigue in boardrooms across America. Poison pill
defense mechanisms, the rational of mergers and acquisitions, the
sellout of big tobacco, and the movement towards socially
responsible investing are just a few of the ingredients in this
most delicious intrigue
Open Source Archaeology: Ethics and Practice' brings together
authors and researchers in the field of open-source archaeology,
defined as encompassing the ethical imperative for open public
access to the results of publicly-funded research; practical
solutions to open-data projects; open-source software applications
in archaeology; public information sharing projects in archaeology;
open-GIS; and the open-context system of data management and
sharing. This edited volume is designed to discuss important issues
around open access to data and software in academic and commercial
archaeology, as well as to summarise both the current state of
theoretical engagement, and technological development in the field
of open-archaeology. Ben Edwards Ben Edwards was trained in
archaeology at the University of Durham, achieving his BA, MA and
PhD. His first commercial work was for Archaeological Services,
Durham University, before moving on to become a Lecturer in
Archaeological Practice at the University of Liverpool, where he
taught for three years. During this time Ben began his project
management work, undertaking both commercial and research
excavations, and survey projects. His teaching (archaeological
practice and heritage management) proved to be an excellent basis
from which to develop his professional expertise. Ben now lectures
at Manchester Metropolitan University in Archaeology and Heritage.
He currently researches open source software and hardware for use
in the field, and advanced 3D surveying techniques. Andrew Wilson
Andrew Wilson was trained in archaeology at the University of
Liverpool. Upon achieving his BA at the University, Andrew moved
south to study Computer Applied Archaeology at the University of
Southampton, where he was awarded an MSc. Andrew returned to the
University of Liverpool where he has recently completed a PhD.
During this time Andrew coordinated a number of projects both in
the UK and Middle East, specialising in advanced surveying
techniques of archaeological remains. Working in the the School of
Computer Science, Bangor University Andrew has developed his keen
interest in Open data policies and ethics. This interest was the
starting point for this volume.

Changing Views of Business Marketing This book aims to provide an
in-depth understanding of long-term busi in industrial markets.
During the late 1980s our view ness relationships on business
marketing changed remarkably. From a single-transaction oriented,
market mechanism-based description of marketing and purchas ing, we
are moving into domestic and international buyer-seller relation
ships. In academic terms, we are experiencing a broadening of the
para digms that describe how companies interact. This change in
focus has its roots in the recognition that business marketing is
frequently characterized by long-term interaction, coopera tion,
and coalitions between participant firms. The forces of quality,
total cost management, and the need to decrease response times in
new prod uct/service development all are combining to accelerate
the trend to wards strategic relationships. In increasingly global
markets, different forms of strategic alliances provide ways of
joining forces in attempts to reach goals beyond any single firm's
resources. Also, our way of seeing the corporate environment is
changing. In stead of the traditional view of markets or industries
as constituted by independent companies operating mainly through
market competition, we are starting to realize that markets can be
more realistically defined and described as networks of interlinked
organizations. The network view offers a highly promising tool for
describing and analyzing the rapidly integrating global
marketplace. For instance, strategic alliances can be seen as moves
of establishing positions in a network or as ways of changing the
whole network."

I have spent less time in the arid zone in the last few years than
I did during the 1960's, 1970's and early 1980's. This results from
a progression through age and a career structure which gradually
shifted the emphasis of my work from being essentially
field-oriented to essentially office-hound. When, therefore, I was
asked by John Cloudsley-Thompson to undertake the writing of this
hook I hesitated for two reasons. One reason was that, although I
now had access to good library facilities and kept up with the
literature on the arid zones and their fauna, I was not sure that a
sedentary and pleasant life in a temperate highland island in
tropieal Africa would provide a mental attitude suitable to writing
a hook which related to areas where life is usually nomadie and
often extremely disagreeable. The other reason was that I was
uncertain whether I could devote the time necessary to researehing
and writing the hook on top of my professional (which now
specifical ly excluded research in the arid zones and on camels)
and social (new-found and time-consuming) commitments. In the event
I accepted and the fates were kind to me. By some peculiar
combination of circumstances I was given the opportunity to spend a
considerable part of the first half of 1988 in some of the driest
areas of the globe. I had already visited all of the locations used
for the construction of Fig. 2."
