Chloe Knaggs is a bit of a nerd, a bit of a klutz, and all Blunder
Woman, especially when it comes to love. Take the love of her life,
Matt M. - or as she calls him - Mmm. He's her consummate
unboyfriend, meaning, they have all the intimacy of a dating couple
without any of the intimacy. Confused? So is Chloe. When Matt
decides to elope with the very beautiful, svelte Amber, Chloe goes
a little bit crazy and takes her hippy mom and best friend Megan
right along with her. Blunder Woman is a hilarious romp with bright
characters through a series of misadventures including a derby
party gone horribly wrong, a night of drinking Flaming Turtles, and
a fundraising event where the biggest blunder of all occurs.
Blunder Woman is funny, fresh, and above all real...in a truly
awkward way.
1932. Michigan. An autumn storm. A home for the insane. Dr. Elliott
Kinney arrives at the Northern Michigan Insane Asylum ready to ease
psychological suffering with his modern techniques. Kinney is also
running away from the torment of a dead sister and perhaps the loss
of his own sanity. Under the asylum, in The Tunnels, a group of
inmates travel freely within the shadows, keeping and tending to
their own secrets. Kinney's arrival will change everyone-especially
Alma, a child born in the asylum, and raised to womanhood in
secret. "Tunnel Vision" twists and turns, and is, in essence, a
psychological Frankenstein. Along with the novella "Tunnel Vision,"
Tanya Eby includes three stories from the edge: "The Perfect
Neighbor," "The Shedow," and "Birth Day." These stories are cold
and haunting, and deal with the darker difficulties of what it
means to be a woman in our new millennium.
Dana Kupiac's husband left her over a year ago for the wilds of
Ohio and a woman named Allyssa, leaving Dana a single mom on a
mission to succeed in her canning business. With the help of Dana's
eternally-lactating sister Valerie, Dana takes a once in a lifetime
trip to a food conference in Las Vegas where she learns about
selling her spicy chutneys, and meets the owner of a gourmet food
store. Their weekend together ends in an impromptu ceremony where
they're "married" by Elvis. "Foodies Rush In" is a story that
proves that love can happen for anyone, even if your heart is
broken and you're starting over. Even if you have a crazy family.
Even if you're a nerd more comfortable with the recipe for a great
chicken piccata than a recipe for a real relationship. If Iron
Chefs can create delicious onion-flavored ice cream, then maybe two
misfits can find the right recipe for love.
