This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 4th International Conference on Advances in Information Systems, ADVIS 2006, held in Izmir, Turkey in October 2006. The 38 revised full papers presented together with 4 invited lectures were carefully reviewed and selected from 120 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on information representation and exchange, databases and datawarehouses, semantic web and ontologies, data mining and knowledge discovery, information retrieval and knowledge representation, architecture of information systems, as well as distributed and wireless information systems.
This volume contains the proceedings of the 3rd International Conference on AdvancesinInformationSystems(ADVIS)heldinIzmir, Turkey,20-22October, 2004. This was the third conference dedicated to the memory of Prof. Esen Ozkarahan. We are very proud to continue this tradition and keep the memory of this outstanding scientist. The third conference covered many of the topics of the second one: databases and data warehouses, information systems development and management, - formation retrieval, distributed and parallel data processing, and evolutionary algorithms. Besides them some of the hot topics related to information systems were included in the scope of this conference, such as data mining and kno- edge discovery, Web information systems development, information privacy and security, multimedia information systems, and network management. This year we received 203 submissions from which the Program Committee selected 61 papers for presentation at the conference. The success of the conference was dependent upon the hard work of a large number of people. We gratefully acknowledge the contribution of the members of the Program Committee who did their best to review all submitted papers. We also thank all the specialists who helped us in reviewing the papers. We appreciated the constant support and help from the Rector of Dokuz Eylul University, Prof. Dr. Emin Alici. I would like to express my personal gratitude to Natalya Cheremnykh and Olga Drobyshevich for their help in producing the camera-ready version of these proceedings

The 40 revised full papers presented together with four selected papers from a workshop on new information technologies in education were carefully reviewed and selected from 94 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on databases and data warehouses, information retrieval, information systems, multi-agent technologies and systems, evolutionary algorithms, system programming, and distributed and parallel processing.
This volume contains the proceedings of the First International Conference on Advances in Information Systems (ADVIS) held in Izmir (Turkey), 25{27 October, 2000. This conference was dedicated to the memory of Professor Esen Ozkarahan. He was great researcher who made an essential contribution to the development of information systems. This conference was organized by the Computer - gineering Department of Dokuz Eylul University of Izmir. This department was established in 1994 by the founding chairman Professor Ozkarahan and there he worked for the last ve years of his live. The main goal of the conference was to bring together researchers from all around the world working in di erent areas of information systems to share new ideas and to represent their latest results. We received 80 submissions from 30 countries. The Program Committee selected 44 papers for presentation at the conference. The invited and accepted contributions cover a large variety of topics: - neral aspects of information systems, data bases, data warehousing, computer networks, Internet technologies, content-based image retrieval, information - trieval, constraint programming and arti cial intelligence. The success of the conference was dependent upon the hard work of a large number of people. We gratefully acknowledge the members of the Program C- mittee who helped to coordinate the process of refereeing all submitted papers. We also thank all the other specialists who reviewed the papers.
