Recent studies indicate that - due to climate change - the Earth is
undergoing rapid changes in all cryospheric components, including
polar sea ice shrinkage, mountain glacier recession, thawing
permafrost, and diminishing snow cover. This book provides a
comprehensive summary of all components of the Earth's cryosphere,
reviewing their history, physical and chemical characteristics,
geographical distributions, and projected future states. This new
edition has been completely updated throughout, and provides
state-of-the-art data from GlobSnow-2 CRYOSAT, ICESAT, and GRACE.
It includes a comprehensive summary of cryospheric changes in land
ice, permafrost, freshwater ice, sea ice, and ice sheets. It
discusses the models developed to understand cryosphere processes
and predict future changes, including those based on remote
sensing, field campaigns, and long-term ground observations.
Boasting an extensive bibliography, over 120 figures, and
end-of-chapter review questions, it is an ideal resource for
students and researchers of the cryosphere.

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 25th International
Conference on Information Processing in Medical Imaging, IPMI 2017,
held at the Appalachian State University, Boon, NC, USA, in June
2017. The 53 full papers presented in this volume were carefully
reviewed and selected from 147 submissions. They were organized in
topical sections named: analysis on manifolds; shape analysis;
disease diagnosis/progression; brain networks an connectivity;
diffusion imaging; quantitative imaging; imaging genomics; image
registration; segmentation; general image analysis.
Sustained release (SR) profiles from tablets can be achieved using
various approaches and monolithic matrix system is one of them.
However, drug solubility is one of the various considerations in
the development of SR matrix tablets. The difficulty in retarding
the drug release from SR matrix tablets is intensified with the use
of extremely water soluble drugs. Therefore, the manuscript explain
the development of SR matrix tablets containing an extremely water
soluble model drug using high viscosity HPMC as the release
retarding polymer. This approach may provide researchers with novel
ideas in the development of SR release matrix tablets.
