The Kingdom (2007)
When a terrorist bomb detonates inside a Western housing compound in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, an international incident is ignited. While diplomats slowly debate equations of territorialism, FBI Special Agent Ronald Fleury (Jamie Foxx) quickly assembles an elite team and negotiates a secret five-day trip into Saudi Arabia to locate the madman behind the bombing. Fleury's crew finds a like-minded partner in Saudi Police Captain Al-Ghazi (Ashraf Barhom), who helps them navigate royal politics and unlock the secrets of the crime scene and the workings of an extremist, hell bent on further destruction.

Young recruit Swofford (Jake Gyllenhaal) joins up with the US Marines (nicknamed 'Jarheads' because of their distinctive haircuts) on the eve of the 1990 Gulf War. After a brutal spell in boot camp, during which Swofford and his fellow recruits are systematically geared up for the conflict, the Marines are dispatched to the deserts of the Persian Gulf to take part in a war that sees them required to do very little in the way of fighting. Bored and frustrated in the middle of nowhere, the young soldiers resort to a macabre sense of humour as they wait for the war to happen to them.

'Life of Pi' (2012) is an Academy Award-winning fantasy adventure based on Yann Martel's Booker Prize-winning novel. Suraj Sharma stars as Pi Patel, a 16-year-old zookeeper's son from Pondicherry who finds himself stranded on a small boat in the Pacific Ocean in the company of a hyena, a zebra, an orangutan and a Bengal tiger following the shipwreck of the freighter on which he and his family were sailing for Canada. Over the course of several months Pi manages to survive on the meagre supplies of food and water he finds on the boat, and also takes up fishing, while in his half-delirious state he muses on various aspects of animal behaviour, religion and the meaning of life.

Daniel Craig returns as 007 in the 24th instalment of the James Bond franchise. After the devastating attack on MI6, a cryptic message leads Bond on a rogue mission to Rome where he meets Lucia Sciarra (Monica Bellucci), the widow of a notorious crimelord. On ilfiltrating a top secret meeting, Bond discovers the existance of the global crime organisation SPECTRE and sets about trying to expose them and ultimately bring them down. The cast also includes Ralph Fiennes, Christoph Waltz and Ben Whishaw.

In the hopes of treating the depression she is suffering in anticipation of her husband Martin (Channing Tatum) returning home from prison, Emily Taylor (Rooney Mara) is prescribed the new and untested drug Ablixa by her psychiatrist Dr Banks (Jude Law) after seeking the guidance of Dr Siebert (Catherine Zeta-Jones). Soon afterwards, things start looking up for the Taylors but it isn't long before Emily begins experiencing some disturbing side effects which appear to blur the line between fantasy and reality.
