UNSUSTAINABLE frames the problem of cost and effectiveness in
America s public schooling system, and provides a strategy to
address it. It argues something that many education professionals
and policy makers have come to believe but rarely mention: That
this country s system of K-12 schooling is not sustainable and is
becoming a poorer value each year that goes by. It argues for
improving the cost and effectiveness of public schooling through a
strategy of innovation that targets productivity. Addressing the
question how to do this, the book provides policy recommendations
to the state, district, and federal levels. In a final chapter it
outlines uncommon strategies for overcoming some of the most
difficult political, practical, and structural roadblocks to
improvement.

A large portion of Britain's Muslims are not assimilating to a high
standard of liberal values. Beliefs that many consider 'extremist'
are in fact surprisingly common. As the Muslim minority grows in
share of Europe's population the situation in society will either
become more peaceful, or it will become more violent. This book
contends that at present the West is headed toward increasing
violence. McDonald argues there is a Multicultural Paradox amongst
political, civic, and religious leadership preventing them from
responding to degenerate beliefs and visions for the future. Led by
its vibrant and diverse capitol Britain must step forward to
reframe this problem from one of religion to one of values. Peace
will come only by rooting laws, policies, and the bounds of
cultural tolerance in the values of freedom. This book will be
valuable to Muslims and non- Muslims alike as they confront the
challenge of remaining open to faith while protecting the
nonnegotiable position of liberal policies as the only viable root
of free society.
