Here's a complete and up-to-date introduction to the analysis and
design of infrared and electro-optical (EO) imaging systems. This
comprehensive reference details the principles and components of
the Linear Shift-Invariant (LSI) infrared and electro-optical
systems and shows you how to combine this approach with calculus
and domain transformations to achieve a successful imaging system
analysis. Ultimately, the steps described in this book lead to
results in quantitative characterizations of performance metrics
such as modulation transfer functions, minimum resolvable
temperature difference, minimum resolvable contrast, and
probability of object discrimination.
The book includes an introduction to two-dimensional functions
and mathematics which can be used to describe image transfer
characteristics and imaging system components. You also learn
diffraction concepts of coherent and incoherent imaging systems
which show you the fundamental limits of their performance. By
using the evaluation procedures contained in this desktop
reference, engineers and program managers become capable of
predicting both sensor test and field performance and quantifying
the effects of component variations. "Introduction to Infrared and
Electro-Optical Systems" contains over 500 equations.
The Old, the New and the Rewritten illustrates how Targum Psalms
creatively interprets selected psalms and how those interpretations
relate to other Jewish and Christian traditions, including early
translations of the psalms, rabbinic Midrashim, the New Testament
and early Church Fathers. The study of these Psalms suggests
viewing Targum Psalms as a creative partner in the world of
biblical interpretation, as opposed to a compilation of already
existing midrashic material. Edwards portrays the Targum as a link
between the written and oral Torah that leads its readers on a path
to tradition.
The Uruguay Round trade negotiations marked a historic turning
point in the reform of agricultural trade. The Uruguay Round
Agreement on Agriculture (URAA) replaced nontariff barriers with
bound tariffs, curbed export subsidies, and codified domestic
agricultural programs. Unfortunately, the URAA bound many of the
tariffs that replaced nontariff barriers too high, it legitimized
export subsidies, and it left the domestic farm policies of the
major industrial countries largely untouched. Fortunately, regional
trade institutions have also begun to grapple with agricultural
trade liberalization. Agriculture was featured in the Mercosur
agreement, in recent agreements between the European Union and the
countries of Central and Eastern Europe, and in the North American
Free Trade Area (NAFTA). Plans for broad supraregional trade
structures, such as the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC)
forum and the Free Trade Area of the Americas (FTAA), have also
dealt with the inclusion of agricultural trade. Meanwhile, in
developing and middle-income countries, unilateral agricultural
policy reforms have been part of recent economic policy changes.
However, in the industrial countries, agricultural policy reform
has languished in the face of much domestic opposition. But the
reform of the European Union's Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) in
1992 and the 1996 Farm Bill in the United States seems to have
ushered in a new era of relations between government and
agricultural groups. The author points out ways that multilateral,
regional, and unilateral paths could be coordinated to liberalized
agricultural trade. He proposes a set of multilateral talks that
would benefit from agricultural reform at all levels and complete
the job begun at the Uruguay Round.
The Principia Dysnomia is a book about the worship of the Goddess
Dysnomia, made in a way to give tribute to the first Discordian
book, the Principia Discordia. It is ripe with freshwater seafood
puns and people's names switched around in a nod to the mental
disorder, and a couple moon jokes for you space cases. It is not,
and I repeat, it is not Jonesboria Discordia Part II. That is a
filthy lie. Bad bad people spread filthy filthy lies.
Jonesboria Discordia OR How we found the Goddess and how much money
we'll accept for her ransom, continues in the Discordian tradition
of Principia Discordia, Metaclysmia Discordia, Apocrypha Discordia,
Summa Discordia, The Book of Eris, and the rest. In this book you
will find out how to become S.T.U.P.I.D., how to shave like a
proper Discordian, who this mysterious JOCKO fellow is, and maybe
you'll get a giggle or two
Originally published in English as ""White-Tailed Deer Habitat:
Ecology and Management on Rangelands"" (Texas A&M University
Press, 2005), this Spanish-language edition brings a valuable
management tool to a new reading audience. Unlike other books on
white-tailed deer in places where rainfall is relatively high and
the environment stable, this book takes an ecological approach to
deer management in the semiarid lands of Oklahoma, Texas, and
northern Mexico. These are the least productive of white-tail
habitats, where periodic drought punctuates long-term weather
patterns. The book's focus on this landscape across political
borders is one of its original and lasting contributions and makes
this Spanish language edition particularly appropriate.
The original, 2006 edition of Timothy Edward Fulbright and J.
Alfonso Ortega-S.'s "White-Tailed Deer Habitat: Ecology and
Management on Rangelands" was hailed as "a splendid reference for
the classroom and those who make their living from wildlife and the
land" and as "filling a niche that is not currently approached in
the literature."In this second, full-color edition, revised and
expanded to include the entire western United States and northern
Mexico, Fulbright and Ortega-S. provide a carefully reasoned
synthesis of ecological and range management principles that
incorporates rangeland vegetation management and the impact of
crops, livestock, predation, and population density within the
context of the arid and semiarid habitats of this broad region. As
landowners look to hunting as a source of income and to the other
benefits of managing for wildlife, the clear presentation of the
up-to-date research gathered in this book will aid their efforts.
Essential points covered in this new edition include:
White-tailed deer habitat requirements
Nutritional needs of White-tailed deer
Carrying capacity
Habitat management
HuntingFocused across political borders and written with an
understanding of environments where periodic drought punctuates
long-term weather patterns, this revised and expanded edition of
"White-Tailed Deer Habitat: Ecology and Management on Rangelands"
will aid landowners, researchers, and naturalists in their efforts
to integrate land management and use with sound ecological
practices.
