1580, London. Adam Eterno was working as an assistant to the great alchemist Erasmus Hemlock who had just achieved his life's goal - creating the 'Elixir of Life'! Adam swallowed the potion, defying his masters orders. With his last breath, Erasmus placed a curse upon Adam, wishing him immortality. Unless Adam is struck over the head with a solid gold object, he is, "doomed to wander through the labyrinths of time...!" From the high seas of 1770 to the Western Front in 1916, follow Adam Eterno's earliest adventures, beautifully illustrated with black and white art by Solano Lopez (Janus Stark), Tom Kerr (Kelly's Eye) and Colin Page (Billy's Boots) and originally published in the pages of Thunder.

The story is based on three events which occurred on the 5th of October 1968 in Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and on a train traveling from Dublin to Belfast. The first event, the civil rights march in Derry, NI would shape the future history of Northern Ireland. The suicide of a decorated British General in the Republic would be the cause of the fall from grace of a number of high British officials years later. The train robbery which cost the life of three innocent men would not be solved for thirty years. In 1998 a number of top officials of the British government arranged for three retired MI-6 officers to organize a unit whose sole mission was to solve the mystery of the train robbery and locate a large number of British certificates worth millions of pounds. This unit would consist of active intelligent personnel and six individuals from the United States, Canada, Australia and the Republic of Ireland. These six individuals had experiences which would allow them to be placed in positions where it was believed information could be obtained concerning the train robbery.

In 1993 Ronald McCaul, the chief strategist of the Provos in Northern Ireland and Thomas O'Connor, one of their most famous gunman, escaped from Castlereagh Interrogation Center in Belfast. The two appeared to dissolve into thin air. In July 1998 they reappear in the Republic of Ireland and are arrested by the Garda(the Police Force of the Republic). McCaul, who was sick when arrested, asked O'Connor to take his body home to Wales if he dies. O'Connor agreed to McCaul's request. Within days, McCaul died.. Chief Superintendent Patrick T. Kerrigan of the Garda proposed to use O'Connor as a bait to lure members of the Provos into a trap. The trap failed, O'Connor was rescued by the Provos and whisked into Northern Ireland. Kerrigan and his unit become the butt of both official and public criticism. A plan is hatched to transport McCaul's body to Wales, but the authorities from both the Republic and Northern Ireland decided to have McCaul's remains cremated within days. This is to prevent the Provos the opportunity for a public funeral with speeches by the Provos' firebrands. In addition, the British SIS(MI-5) were aware of O'Connors activities from recorded telephone conversations.
