This edited collection harnesses a diversity of interpretivist
perspectives to provide a panoramic view of the production,
experiences, contexts, and meanings of religion. Scholars from the
US, South Asia and Europe explore religious phenomena using
ethnographic, comparative historical, psychosocial, and critical
theoretical approaches. Each chapter addresses foundational themes
in the study of religion – from identity, discourse and power to
ritual, emotion, and embodiment. Authors examine dynamic
intersections of race, gender, history, and the present within the
religious traditions of Christianity, Islam, Judaism and Buddhism,
as well as among the non-religious. Cutting boldly across religious
traditions and paradigms, the book investigates areas of harmony
and contradiction across different interpretive lenses to achieve a
richer understanding of the meanings of religion.

The Kanwar is India's largest annual religious pilgrimage. Millions
of participants gather sacred water from the Ganga and carry it
across hundreds of miles to dispense as offerings in Siva shrines.
These devotees-called bhola, gullible or fools, and seen as
miscreants by many Indians-are mostly young, destitute men, who
have been left behind in the globalizing economy. But for these
young men, the ordeal of the pilgrimage is no foolish pursuit, but
a means to master their anxieties and attest their good faith in
unfavorable social conditions. Vikash Singh walked with the
pilgrims of the Kanwar procession, and with this book, he
highlights how the procession offers a social space where
participants can prove their talents, resolve, and moral worth.
Working across social theory, phenomenology, Indian metaphysics,
and psychoanalysis, Singh shows that the pilgrimage provides a
place in which participants can simultaneously recreate and prepare
for the poor, informal economy and inevitable social uncertainties.
In identifying with Siva, who is both Master of the World and yet a
pathetic drunkard, participants demonstrate their own sovereignty
and desirability despite their stigmatized status. Uprising of the
Fools shows how religion today is not a retreat into tradition, but
an alternative forum for recognition and resistance within a
rampant global neoliberalism.

Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) have gained a lot of importance in
the past few years. It has a tremendous application in the area of
habitat monitoring, forest firing, medical etc. In most WSN
applications the energy source is a battery and energy plays an
important role in such applications. Therefore, preserving the
energy of each node is an important goal during the development of
a routing protocol for WSN. There are different routing protocols
for WSN operate at minimum energy dissipation increasing the
network lifetime. This book contains four chapters. Chapter 1
covers the general overview of Wireless Sensor Network, their
design criteria, applications and advantages/disadvantages of
sensor networks. The overview and classifications of routing
techniques are described in Chapter 2. Chapter 3 contains the
detailed description about LEACH routing protocol. It also focuses
on the working and design methodology of various modified versions
of LEACH. Chapter 4 presents a case study on the EEE LEACH
protocol. Different performance metrics with respect to clustering
protocols and vital parameters for routing have been considered.
As a part of the systematic and proteomic approach based
characterization of plant material with the advantage of producing
valuable informations of functional genomics for a general crop
improvement programme, leaves of holy medicinal-aromatic plant
Tulsi (Ocimum basilicum L.) were used as a source of proteins and a
model eukaryotic system. In this study, we developed a reliable
protocol for PEG mediated enrichment of low abundant cellular
proteins to increase their detection through 2 DE-SDS PAGE. I6% PEG
was found to be optimum for the precipitation of Ocimum protein.
Further, proteome proteins in different fractions were analysed
electrophoretically including 2- DE technique. These protocols may
also will helpful in further studies in basil proteomics and other
plants also.
