This book presents a comprehensive overview of wireless sensor
networks (WSNs) with an emphasis on security, coverage, and
localization. It offers a structural treatment of WSN building
blocks including hardware and protocol architectures and also
provides a systems-level view of how WSNs operate. These building
blocks will allow readers to program specialized applications and
conduct research in advanced topics. A brief introductory chapter
covers common applications and communication protocols for WSNs.
Next, the authors review basic mathematical models such as Voroni
diagrams and Delaunay triangulations. Sensor principles, hardware
structure, and medium access protocols are examined. Security
challenges ranging from defense strategies to network robustness
are explored, along with quality of service measures. Finally, this
book discusses recent developments and future directions in WSN
platforms. Each chapter concludes with classroom-tested exercises
that reinforce key concepts. This book is suitable for researchers
and for practitioners in industry. Advanced-level students in
electrical engineering and computer science will also find the
content helpful as a textbook or reference.
This book provides a unique study of the differences in economic
behaviour according to the phases of the economic cycle in the
countries of the European Union. It presents a comprehensive
analysis of asymmetry in the EU over the last forty years, and
shows that the problems in the global financial crisis were readily
predictable.
The authors use empirical research and panel data to show how much
economic behaviour changes between the up and down phases of the
business cycle, and the difficulties this creates for monetary,
fiscal and labour market policies. The volume demonstrates how
prescient the asymmetric design of the Stability and Growth Pact
was in trying to offset countries understandable optimism in fiscal
policy, and the consequent tendency not to manage debt
successfully. It also reveals the inherent problems for managing
unemployment in an asymmetric labour market.
This book deciphers the intricacies of the compatibility of zodiac
signs, the attraction between people of diverse temperaments and
what leads to romantic alliances and conjugal ties.
Supervisory Control Theory (SCT) provides a tool to model and
control human-engineered complex systems, such as computer
networks, World Wide Web, identification and spread of malicious
executables, and command, control, communication, and information
systems. Although there are some excellent monographs and books on
SCT to control and diagnose discrete-event systems, there is a need
for a research monograph that provides a coherent quantitative
treatment of SCT theory for decision and control of complex
systems. This new monograph will assimilate many new concepts that
have been recently reported or are in the process of being reported
in open literature. The major objectives here are to present a) a
quantitative approach, supported by a formal theory, for
discrete-event decision and control of human-engineered complex
systems; and b) a set of applications to emerging technological
areas such as control of software systems, malicious executables,
and complex engineering systems. The monograph will provide the
necessary background materials in automata theory and languages for
supervisory control. It will introduce a new paradigm of language
measure to quantitatively compare the performance of different
automata models of a physical system. A novel feature of this
approach is to generate discrete-event robust optimal decision and
control algorithms for both military and commercial systems.
Dr. Dione Prinsloo – geskiedkundige.

with other sections discussing applications for enriched numerical
techniques in solving a range of engineering problems. The level
set methodologies for complex shaped irregularities is presented,
as are enriched numerical methodologies for various complex and
advanced problems such as Nonlinear Structural Analysis, Fracture
and Fatigue in Structures, Elasto-Plastic Crack Growth, Large
Deformation Analysis, Frictional Contact Problems,
Thermo-Mechanical Problems, Fluid Flow Investigations, Composite
Materials and Bio-mechanics.
In December of 2020, Vir McCoy contracted Covid-19, which then
developed into Post-Acute Sequelae Covid (PASC), commonly known as
Long Covid or Long-Haul Covid. Drawing on his journey to heal his
chronic Lyme disease years earlier, McCoy began collecting
intuitive information, as a medical intuitive, and scientific
information, as a scientist, about the nature of Long-Haul Covid.
Integrating his intuitive impressions with extensive scientific and
medical research, as well as other protocols and support group
success stories, he developed a comprehensive healing guide for a
successful recovery from Long Covid. The author discusses the
primary symptoms and predispositions of Long Covid and outlines the
basic steps for dealing with each of them, including brain fog,
tinnitus, loss of smell and hair, debilitating headaches, hormonal
dysregulation, immune malfunction, limbic system dysfunction, gut
issues, mental instability, sleeplessness, and intolerance to
certain foods. Backed up by more than 350 scientific references, he
presents medicines and methods for healing Long Covid, ranging from
pharmaceutical, herbal, and homeopathic remedies to breathwork
practices, detox therapies, lymph drainage exercises, gut biome
restoration, neuroplasticity retraining, immune modulation, and
shamanic techniques, as well as meditations and mantras for calming
the limbic system and the PTSD that can accompany chronic illness.
Detailing the art of “intuitive access,†the author teaches how
to discover your own unique remedies and presents a guide for
incorporating these intuitive therapies with modern medical
treatments and other healing strategies. He also explores the
deeper significance of disease and how the “disease†may be
teaching us something greater: a way to reclaim our power.

Develops a Comprehensive, Global Model for Contextually Based
Processing Systems A new perspective on global information systems
operation Helping to advance a valuable paradigm shift in the next
generation and processing of knowledge, Introduction to Contextual
Processing: Theory and Applications provides a comprehensive model
for constructing a contextually based processing system. It
explores the components of this system, the interactions of the
components, key mathematical foundations behind the model, and new
concepts necessary for operating the system. After defining the key
dimensions of a model for contextual processing, the book discusses
how data is used to develop a semantic model for contexts as well
as language-driven context-specific processing actions. It then
applies rigorous mathematical methods to contexts, examines basic
sensor data fusion theory and applies it to the contextual fusion
of information, and describes the means to distribute contextual
information. The authors also illustrate a new type of data
repository model to manage contextual data, before concluding with
the requirements of contextual security in a global environment.
This seminal work presents an integrated framework for the design
and operation of the next generation of IT processing. It guides
the way for developing advanced IT systems and offers new models
and concepts that can support advanced semantic web and cloud
computing capabilities at a global scale.

This book presents a clear exposition of what constitutes asymmetry
in economics. It provides an empirical application of these ideas
in the case of the EU. In particular, it shows how important
asymmetry is for the appropriate design of policy in the Euro Area.

Welcome to the Second International Conference on Contemporary
Computing, which was held in Noida (outskirts of New Delhi), India.
Computing is an exciting and evolving area. This conference, which
was jointly organized by the Jaypee Institute of Information
Technology University, Noida, India and the University of Florida,
Gainesville, USA, focused on topics that are of contemporary
interest to computer and computational scientists and engineers.
The conference had an exciting technical program of 61 papers
submitted by - searchers and practitioners from academia, industry
and government to advance the algorithmic, systems, applications,
and educational aspects of contemporary comp- ing. These papers
were selected from 213 submissions (with an overall acceptance rate
of around 29%). The technical program was put together by a
distinguished int- national Program Committee. The Program
Committee was led by the following Track Chairs and Special Session
Chairs: Srinivas Aluru, Rajkumar Buyya, Yeh-Ching Chung, Sumeet
Dua, Ananth Grama, Sandeep Gupta, Rajeev Kumar and Vir Phoha. I
would like to thank the Program Committee, the Track Chairs and
Special Session Chairs for their tremendous effort. I would like to
thank the General Chairs, Sartaj Sahni and Sanjay Goel for giving
me the opportunity to lead the technical program. Sanjay Ranka
Many models in this volume can be used in solving portfolio
problems, in assessing forecasts, in understanding the possible
effects of shocks and disturbances.
This book deals with the fundamental causes of the Indo-Pak
conflict-why it is difficult, if not impossible, to have peace
between the two neighbors. Also it explores the short spurt of
Pulwama-Balakot stand-off or a game of one-upmanship. It analyses
the perennial conflict scenario and goes to stress that for
Pakistan, in recent times, there has been no marked change in
disincentives (negative stresses) that could compel it to moderate
its behavior towards India-and nor there exists a package of
incentives (positive stresses) that should force it to go for a
change towards peace. All the key stakeholders of Pakistan
(including army, ISI and terror outfits), other than the Pak
public, will stand to lose if the religion-steeped state turned
friendly, or even nonaggressive, towards India. In that situation,
it is indeed difficult to comprehend for a logical mind that why
should Indian politicians and diplomats hanker for the illusionary
scenario of peace to unfold. Let it be clear for one and all that
peace (or even normalcy) between India and Pakistan will only be
possible under one of the following situations. That' incentives'
package (positive stresses) for Pakistan in the event of being
friendly is so great that the same can't be resisted. Or, the
disincentives for retaining its historical behavior towards India
are so great that the same can't be resisted by its army-and ISI
combine. As long as one of the above two conditions doesn't
materialize, or isn't forced upon, it shall remain just foolhardy
for India to expect that things between the two quarrelsome
neighbors shall turn towards normalcy.
Magnitude and quality of life as well as sustainable human progress
inescapably depend on the state of our environment. The
environment, in essence, is a common resource of all the living
organisms in the biosphere as well as a vivacious basis of the
evolution of life on Earth. A sustainable future broods over a
sustainable environment-an environment encompassing
life-originating, life-supporting, and life-sustaining uniqueness.
A deteriorating environment haplessly sets in appalling conditions
leading to shrinkage of life and a halt in human progress. The
current global environment scenario is extremely dismal.
Environmental disruptions, largely owing to anthropogenic
activities, are steadily leading to awful climate change. Horribly
advancing toward mass extinction in the near or distant future and
posing a threat to our Living Planet, the unabatedly ongoing
climate change, in fact, is an unprecedented issue of human concern
about life in the recorded human history. How to get rid of the
environmental mess and resolve environmental issues leading to
climate change mitigation is the foremost challenge facing humanity
in our times. There are several measures the whole world is
resorting to. They are primarily focused on cutting down excessive
carbon emissions by means of development of technological
alternatives, for example, increasing mechanical efficiencies and
ever-more dependence on clean-energy sources. These are of great
importance, but there is yet a natural phenomenon that has been,
and will unceasingly be, pivotal to maintain climate order of the
Earth. For it to phenomenally boost, we need to explore deeper
aspects of environmental science. It is the environmental plant
physiology that links us with deeper roots of life. Environmental
Plant Physiology: Botanical Strategies for a Climate-Smart Planet
attempts to assimilate a relatively new subject that helps us
understand the very phenomenon of life that persists in the
planet's environment and depends on, and is influenced by, a
specific set of operating environmental factors. It is the subject
that helps us understand adaptation mechanisms within a variety of
habitats as well as the implications of the alterations of
environmental factors on the inhabiting organisms, their
populations, and communities. Further, this book can also be of
vital importance for policy makers and organizations dealing with
climate-related issues and committed to the cause of the earth.
This book can be instrumental in formulating strategies that can
lead us to a climate-smart planet. Features: * Provides ecological
basis of environmental plant physiology * Discusses energy,
nutrient, water, temperature, allelochemical, and altitude
relations of plants * Reviews stress physiology of plants and
plants' adaptations to the changing climate * Examines
climate-change effects on plant physiology * Elucidates evolving
botanical strategies for a climate-smart planet
