The world is moving into a new era of the knowledge economy. In the
past decade, the significance of developing knowledge has grown to
a level where it is now dominating other socio-economic factors.
Systems Approaches to Knowledge Management, Transfer, and Resource
Development provides a new view of knowledge management through the
lens of systems approach, which looks at each part of the knowledge
management system as a section of the full overview. This
cutting-edge resource will be essential for academicians,
scientists, practitioners, and industry professionals as all of
these individuals work toward a new understanding of knowledge and
information management practices in the 21st century.
As branches of research and knowledge continue to expand, platforms
for gathering and understanding new information become important
aspects of organizational improvement. Contemporary Knowledge and
Systems Science provides emerging research on the methods and
applications of knowledge systems in social science, economics, and
technological developments. While highlighting topics such as
knowledge retention, organizational information, and evolutionary
algorithms, this publication explores the different types of new
knowledge from a systems perspective. This book is an important
resource for researchers, academics, practitioners, and
graduate-level students seeking current research on the connections
between technology and information in order to manage new data.
Regional innovation systems and sustainable development: emerging
technologies promotes scientific discussion on standards and
practices of regional development, while also covering emerging
research topics in regional innovation systems and sustained
development. A leading source of information from experts in the
field, this text demonstrates the capacity of regional innovation
systems, information technology, management and sustainable
development for the mutual understanding, prosperity and well being
of all the citizens in the world.
This monograph written by two Chinese scientists of the younger
generation opens a window into the world of thoughts on Mechanical
Metallurgy in this fascinating area of our world, characterized by
age old cultural heritage as weil as by its dynamic evolution into
the future. Based on notions and names all so familiar to the
western scientist, and regarding the subject from the point of view
of the theoretical mechanical engineer (Yang) as weil as that of
the materials and manufacturing engineer (Lee), the authors present
a synthesis of both approaches and endeavour to guide the reader
from basic theory to engineering applications. Between structural
defects in the micrometer scale and the meter-measures of
engineering components, the term of mesoplasticity is meant to
place the reader right in the center: This is certainly
achallenging enterprise, and the editor expresses his sincere
wishes as to enrichment and stimulation which will emanate from
this interesting book and its creative perspective. Prof. B.
Ilschner March, 1993. Preface In the past two decades, enormous
advances in materials and manufacturing tech nology have been
achieved, which upgrade the material design, processing and
precision manufacturing as quantitative and concise scientific
disciplines. Rapid improvements on mechanics understanding have
been instrumental in the above mentioned development. A topic of
great interest and importance in plasticity re search has been the
design and processing of materials themselves on the mesoscale to
achieve the desired macroscopic properties."

This book constitutes the proceedings of the 5th International
Conference on Knowledge Science, Engineering and Management, KSEM
2011, held in Irvine, CA, USA, in December 2011. The 34 revised
full papers presented together with 7 short papers were carefully
reviewed and selected from numerous submissions.

Ophtalmic Fine Structure in Ystad, Sweden, April 20 and 21, 1979
The life cycle of companies and enterprises, at present, is
short-lived due to rapid social and technological changes. Despite
the growing awareness on the importance of knowledge management
(KM) among academic researchers, it is still not widely practiced
in industry. Why is this? Most KM programs emphasize the importance
of capturing, retaining, and sharing organisational knowledge
amongst their stakeholders. The beneficial effect of these programs
is rarely felt immediately, which often results in senior
management avoiding prioritising KM initiatives. To overcome this
hurdle in implementing KM an approach that includes the assessment
of knowledge risk factors and the disastrous effect on the daily
operation of the company is explored. This book is the first
attempt of its kind to provide a pragmatic view to launch knowledge
risk management at the grassroot level, with steps by steps on what
should be the mission and practical skills needed for a KM
practitioner. Another surprise of this book is the numerous cases,
examples and data that are brough about from the real business
world. For business practitioners, KM researchers and those in HR,
risk management, management accounting and Leadership this work is
a must for expanding their understanding of Knowledge Management
and knowledge risks.
