A speculative-poetic work from the Forward Prize-winning, T.S.
Eliot shortlisted author of RENDANG At the heart of Brother Poem is
a sequence addressed to a fictional brother. Through these
fragments, Will Harris attempts to reckon with the past while
mourning what never existed. The text moves, cloud-like, through
states of consciousness, beings and geographies, to create a moving
portrait of contemporary anxieties around language and the need to
communicate. With pronominal shifts, broken dialogisms, and
obsessive feedback loops, it reflects on the fictions we tell
ourselves, and in our attempts to live up to the demands of others.
From a dimension uncannily like our own, intuited through signs,
whispers, and glitches, Brother Poem is shadowed by the loss of
what can't be seen. Telling stories of bizarre familial reckonings
and difficult relationships, about love and living with others, it
is a deeply sensitive coming-of-age poetics.
In RENDANG, Will Harris complicates and experiments with the lyric in a way that urges it forward. With an unflinching yet generous eye, RENDANG is a collection that engages equally with the pain and promise of self-perception. Drawing on his Anglo-Indonesian heritage, Harris shows us new ways to think about the contradictions of identity and cultural memory. He creates companions that speak to us in multiple languages; they sit next to us on the bus, walk with us through the crowd and talk to us while we're chopping shallots. They deftly ask us to consider how and what we look at, as well as what we don't look at and why.
Playing eruditely with and querying structures of narrative, with his use of the long poem, images, ekphrasis, and ruptured forms, RENDANG is a startling new take on the self, and how an identity is constructed. It is intellectual and accessible, moving and experimental, and combines a linguistic innovation with a deep emotional rooting.

Mixed-Race Superman is a reflection on the lives of two very
different supermen: Barack Obama and Keanu Reeves. In an era where
a man endorsed by the Klu Klux Klan can sit in the White House,
Will Harris argues that the mixed-race background of each gave them
a shapelessness that was a form of resistance. Drawing on his own
personal experience and examining the way that these two men have
been embedded in our collective consciousness, Harris asks what
they can teach us about race and heroism.

Look to the constellations with Will Harris' futuristic Greek
tragedy, and never, ever answer to your name in Malika Booker's
Trinidadian recreation of the Dwen. Bedtime Stories for the End of
the World is produced in partnership with the ground-breaking
poetry podcast of the same name. The six featured poets draw on
their own experience, adding a new dimension to an existing tale.
'Bedtime Stories for the End of the World' is a spoken word and

storytelling. The podcast asks some of the UK's top poets to
re-imagine their favourite myths, fairy tales and legends - the
stories they want to keep and protect for the future. It also
involves an annual live event, creating a tangible and accessible
experience for existing and new audiences. Reimagined tales include
Icarus, the legend of the Zambezi River God, East of the Sun West
of the Moon, Bluebeard, Philoctetes and the Trinidadian folklore
figure 'douen'.

Husbands and wives--a story as old as time and as new as J. Lo and
whoever it is she's married to this month. Daniel Will-Harris spins
a hilarious new take on this age-old subject, tackling everyday
topics from tiny BBQs to giant chickens; putting up shelves to
putting down cookies; puppies to panic; curtains to karma.
Will-Harris says "You're going to look back and laugh at this
someday." That's something I tell myself and what I do in these
stories--rewrite the past and change shock to shtick, transform
tears to laughter. 50,000 Internet readers already agree,
recommending their friends to Will-Harris' site and e-mail list.
That's why they're among the most popular and fastest-growing story
sites and lists on the web. Here's what actual readers are saying:
"Anyone who's ever been married, or even known a person of the
opposite sex, will love these stories. Non-stop hilarity from start
to finish " The author's wife (well, she would, wouldn't she).
"Hilarious My wife and I couldn't stop laughing. Will-Harris is
like the literary love child of Dave Barry and David Sedaris." Brad
Plitt "A comic gem " Sheila Bennet "I read them at my desk and
laughed so loud my co-workers thought I was crazy--until they read
them and laughed out loud, too " Sharone Osburn "I had tears of
laughter running down my cheeks." John Stanley "Hysterical My wife
and I laughed for 10 minutes " Pat Daley
