This mystery tale portrays an unusual but fortunately extremely
rare sequence of events that could befall any one of us at any
time. I myself had the benefit of a timely warning, but with
hindsight will never feel that I acted on it in the best way that I
could, as ultimately not only did I manage to loose my husband, but
my teenage daughter as well. Has it been based on fact, or is it
simply a work of fiction? This is for the reader to determine for
themselves.
GO-GO BOOTS IN PARIS The novel 'Go-Go Boots in Paris' has been
based around a factual and light-hearted account of the varied
happenings experienced in a shared Paris flat in the Summer of
1969. The text begins with an introductory chapter about the
background of a young English girl, who, having just left school,
was offered employment at a large International pharmaceutical
company based in Paris, France. The twelve chapters that follow
begin with the introduction to her new home, already inhabited by
four similarly aged French female occupants. Various amusing
incidents ensue, such as one enterprising young woman's
unsuccessful attempts to repair a dripping tap and later on, an
ancient electric toaster they had been given. Other chapters
feature a selection of memorable outings with assorted boyfriends,
acquaintances and fiancees, a night club they all visited for an
entertaining 'girls evening out' to celebrate an engagement, a
photo-shoot in one of the larger Paris parks and a triplet of
occasions when the young women become extras in commercial films.
Not forgetting a couple of rather unpleasant experiences that in an
ideal world would be best forgotten. The collection of anecdotes
comes to a natural conclusion in the Autumn of the same year when
the featured occupants of the flat start going their own separate
ways. Jeanne Marie Williams-French December 1999
Born into a late Victorian privileged household, young Robert
Tysley battles with the upper-middle class expectations instilled
into him by his parents and up-bringing. The story begins in 1903,
the year we find him taking a serious interest in the opposite sex.
This seamlessly leads us through to his University days and the
lengthy courting of a young lady from a similar background to his
own before the onset of the Great War. After the cessation of
hostilities, the young man returns home from serving his country in
France, only to find that the young lady whom he loved so dearly,
has tragically disappeared without trace.
This book is packed with a wide selection of authentic Victorian
'goodies' for cooks of all experiences to successfully make and
enjoy. Carefully selected from my own collection of over one
thousand examples, each has been tried and tested at least once on
my own long-suffering family. With plenty of hints and tips
included, you can be sure that the recipes should turn out as well
in the twenty-first century as they did when originally created.
