GO-GO BOOTS IN PARIS The novel 'Go-Go Boots in Paris' has been
based around a factual and light-hearted account of the varied
happenings experienced in a shared Paris flat in the Summer of
1969. The text begins with an introductory chapter about the
background of a young English girl, who, having just left school,
was offered employment at a large International pharmaceutical
company based in Paris, France. The twelve chapters that follow
begin with the introduction to her new home, already inhabited by
four similarly aged French female occupants. Various amusing
incidents ensue, such as one enterprising young woman's
unsuccessful attempts to repair a dripping tap and later on, an
ancient electric toaster they had been given. Other chapters
feature a selection of memorable outings with assorted boyfriends,
acquaintances and fiancees, a night club they all visited for an
entertaining 'girls evening out' to celebrate an engagement, a
photo-shoot in one of the larger Paris parks and a triplet of
occasions when the young women become extras in commercial films.
Not forgetting a couple of rather unpleasant experiences that in an
ideal world would be best forgotten. The collection of anecdotes
comes to a natural conclusion in the Autumn of the same year when
the featured occupants of the flat start going their own separate
ways. Jeanne Marie Williams-French December 1999
