Entity Alignment - Concepts, Recent Advances and Novel Approaches (1st ed. 2023): Xiang Zhao, Weixin Zeng, Jiuyang Tang Entity Alignment - Concepts, Recent Advances and Novel Approaches (1st ed. 2023)
Xiang Zhao, Weixin Zeng, Jiuyang Tang
R1,609 Discovery Miles 16 090 Ships in 12 - 17 working days

This open access book systematically investigates the topic of entity alignment, which aims to detect equivalent entities that are located in different knowledge graphs. Entity alignment represents an essential step in enhancing the quality of knowledge graphs, and hence is of significance to downstream applications, e.g., question answering and recommender systems. Recent years have witnessed a rapid increase in the number of entity alignment frameworks, while the relationships among them remain unclear. This book aims to fill that gap by elaborating the concept and categorization of entity alignment, reviewing recent advances in entity alignment approaches, and introducing novel scenarios and corresponding solutions.Specifically, the book includes comprehensive evaluations and detailed analyses of state-of-the-art entity alignment approaches and strives to provide a clear picture of the strengths and weaknesses of the currently available solutions, so as to inspire follow-up research. In addition, it identifies novel entity alignment scenarios and explores the issues of large-scale data, long-tail knowledge, scarce supervision signals, lack of labelled data, and multimodal knowledge, offering potential directions for future research. The book offers a valuable reference guide for junior researchers, covering the latest advances in entity alignment, and a valuable asset for senior researchers, sharing novel entity alignment scenarios and their solutions. Accordingly, it will appeal to a broad audience in the fields of knowledge bases, database management, artificial intelligence and big data.

Impurities Confined in Quantum Structures (Hardcover, 2004 ed.): Olof Holtz, Qing Xiang Zhao Impurities Confined in Quantum Structures (Hardcover, 2004 ed.)
Olof Holtz, Qing Xiang Zhao
R3,011 Discovery Miles 30 110 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

The dramatic impact of low dimensional semiconductor structures on c- rent and future device applications cannot be overstated. Research over the last decade has highlighted the use of quantum engineering to achieve p- viously unknown limits for device performance in research laboratories. The modi?ed electronic structure of semiconductor quantum structures results in transport and optical properties, which di?er from those of constituent bulk materials. The possibility to tailor properties, such as bandgap, strain, band o?set etc. , of two-dimensional (2D) semiconductors, e. g. quantum wells, for speci?c purposes has had an extensive impact on the electronics, which has resulted in a dramatic renewal process. For instance, 2D structures are today used in a large number of high speed electronics and optoelectronic appli- tions (e. g. detectors, light emitting diodes, modulators, switches and lasers) and in daily life, in e. g. LED-based tra?c lights, CD-players, cash registers. The introduction of impurities, also in very small concentrations, in a semiconductor can change its optical and electrical properties entirely. This attribute of the semiconductor is utilized in the manifoldness of their app- cations. This fact constitutes the principal driving force for investigation of the properties of the impurities in semiconductors. While the impurities in bulk materials have been investigated for a long time, and their properties are fairly well established by now, the corresponding studies of impurities in quantum wells is a more recent research area.

Global LAnd Surface Satellite (GLASS) Products - Algorithms, Validation and Analysis (Paperback, 2014 ed.): Shunlin Liang,... Global LAnd Surface Satellite (GLASS) Products - Algorithms, Validation and Analysis (Paperback, 2014 ed.)
Shunlin Liang, Xiaotong Zhang, Zhiqiang Xiao, Jie Cheng, Qiang Liu, …
R2,016 Discovery Miles 20 160 Ships in 10 - 15 working days

This book describes the algorithms, validation and preliminary analysis of the Global LAnd Surface Satellite (GLASS) products, a long-term, high-quality dataset that is now freely available worldwide to government organizations and agencies, scientific research institutions, students and members of the general public.

The GLASS products include leaf area index, broadband albedo, broadband emissivity, downward shortwave radiation and photosynthetically active radiation. The first three GLASS products cover 1981 to 2012 with 1km and 5km spatial resolutions and 8-day temporal resolution, and the last two GLASS products span 2008 to 2010 with 3-hour temporal resolution and 5km spatial resolution. These GLASS products are unique. The first three are spatially continuous and cover the longest period of time among all current similar satellite products. The other two products are the highest spatial-resolution global radiation products from satellite observations that are currently available.

These products can be downloaded from Beijing Normal University at http: //glass-product.bnu.edu.cn/and the University of Maryland Global Land Cover Facility at http: //www.glcf.umd.edu/

The GLASS productsare the outcome of a key research project entitled Generation & Applications of Global Products of Essential Land Variables, supported by funding from the High-Tech Research and Development Program of China and involving dozens of institutions and nearly one hundred scientists and researchers.Following an introduction, the book contains five chapters corresponding to these five GLASS products: background, algorithm, quality control and validation, preliminary analysis and applications. It discusses the long-term environmental changes detected from the GLASS products and other data sources at both global and local scales and also provides detailed analysis of regional hotspots where environmental changes are mainly associated with climate change, drought, land-atmosphere interactions, and human activities.

The book is based primarily on a set of published journal papers about these five GLASS products and includes updated information. Since these products have now begun to be widely used, this bookis an essential reference document. It is also a very helpful resource to anyone interested in satellite remote sensing and its applications."
