Advances in Engineered Cementitious Composite: Materials,
Structures and Numerical Modelling focuses on recent research
developments in high-performance fiber-reinforced cementitious
composites, covering three key aspects, i.e., materials, structures
and numerical modeling. Sections discuss the development of
materials to achieve high-performance by using different type of
fibers, including polyvinyl alcohol (PVA), polyethylene (PE)
polypropylene (PP) and hybrid fibers. Other chapters look at
experimental studies on the application of high-performance
fiber-reinforced cementitious composites on structures and the
performance of structural components, including beams, slabs and
columns, and recent development of numerical methods and modeling
techniques for modeling material properties and structural
behavior. This book will be an essential reference resource for
materials scientists, civil and structural engineers and all those
working in the field of high-performance fiber-reinforced
cementitious composites and structures.
Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Composite and Reinforced
Concrete Beams presents advanced methods and techniques for the
analysis of composite and FRP reinforced concrete beams. The title
introduces detailed numerical modeling methods and the modeling of
the structural behavior of composite beams, including critical
interfacial bond-slip behavior. It covers a new family of composite
beam elements developed by the authors. Other sections cover
nonlinear finite element analysis procedures and the numerical
modeling techniques used in commercial finite element software that
will be of particular interest to engineers and researchers
executing numerical simulations.
This volume comprises papers presented at the China-US Millennium
Symposium on Earthquake Engineering, held in Beijing, China, on
November 8-11, 2000. This conference provides a forum for advancing
the field of earthquake engineering through multi-lateral
cooperation.
A unified presentation of engineering seismology and
earthquake-resistant design, this book presents a wide ranging
coverage of the whole subject of earthquake engineering so that the
reader is given a clear appreciation of earthquakes before dealing
with their effects on structures. In addition, newer mathematical
modelling techniques are introduced which can be powerful tools for
assessing and dealing with the risks associated with design and
construction in seismic regions.
