Organisations and the nature of work have undergone fundamental changes in recent decades. At the same time, the traditional family pattern in Europe is being challenged by the growing number of dual-income families, and by the rise of women's employment. The central aim of this book is to consider to what extent changes in organisations and in the nature of jobs are compatible with the need, increasingly expressed by employees, for greater integration between work and family life. The book questions what sort of dilemmas modern and future employees face, in terms of shaping their careers and organising their lives at home. It gives rise to meaningful bounds for various quantities such as the moments of the process, and provides the mathematical groundwork for approximation algorithms. Obviously, stochastic monotonicity becomes a more tractable subject for analysis if the processes under consideration are such that stochastic mono tonicity on an inter val 0 < t < E implies stochastic monotonicity on the entire time axis. DALEY (1968) was the first to discuss a similar property in the context of discrete time Markov chains. Unfortunately, he called this property "stochastic monotonicity", it is more appropriate, however, to speak of processes with monotone transition operators. KEILSON and KESTER (1977) have demonstrated the prevalence of this phenomenon in discrete and continuous time Markov processes. They (and others) have also given a necessary and sufficient condition for a (temporally homogeneous) Markov process to have monotone transition operators. Whether or not such processes will be stochas tically monotone as defined above, now depends on the initial state distribution. Conditions on this distribution for stochastic mono tonicity on the entire time axis to prevail were given too by KEILSON and KESTER (1977).

Black queer lives often exist outside conventional civic institutions and therefore have to explore alternative intimacies to experience a sense of belonging. Civic Intimacies examines how-and to what extent-these different forms of intimacy catalyze the values, aspirations, and collective flourishing of Black queer denizens of Baltimore. Niels van Doorn draws on 18 months of immersive ethnographic fieldwork for his innovative cross-disciplinary analysis of contemporary debates in political and cultural theory. Van Doorn describes the way that these systematically marginalized communities improvise on citizenship not just to survive but also to thrive despite the proliferation of violence and insecurity in their lives. By reimagining citizenship as the everyday reparative work of building support structures, Civic Intimacies highlights the extent to which sex, kinship, memory, religious faith, and sexual health are rooted in collective practices that are deeply political. These systems sustain the lives of Black queer Baltimoreans who find themselves stuck in a city they cannot give up on-even though it has in many ways given up on them.

Self-concept, as prioritized goal hierarchies, that high creative types embrace is considered a primary motivator for their eminent achievement and novel performance. Self-concept formation is a cognitively, organized knowledge structure which acquires, processes, and evaluates personal life events, traits, and values. This research study examines social/nonsocial, psychodynamic, and cognitive problem-solving self-concept models and relationships with outstanding creative, innovative performance. Participants completed a self-concept measure on past/present to future life event profiles. Creative ability was assessed through completion of novel problems including entrepreneurial, consulting, and marketing exercises. Findings indicated that the self-concept profiles aligning with less social traits, cognitive focus, and psychodynamic influences of negative affect, originality, and detail-orientation held higher, notable creative performance. Self-concept research may be useful to business leaders, R & D departments, and artistic communities for understanding, promoting, and supporting highly creative, innovative employees or artists and their outstanding products and performance

Today's core assumption is that change within organizations can, should and must be managed and therefore the only constant of today is change. Much emphasis has been on resistance to change efforts. This book, however, will focus on the opposite end of resistance: readiness for change. Moreover, this book will study readiness for change from a social exchange perspective. The developed framework matches the social exchange process with the appropriate definition of trust (LMX and fairness). In addition, two personality factors are proposed to influence the relationship.
