Following weeks of heavy rain, the earth comes sliding down on one of
Larvik’s residential areas, burying a handful of houses.
Detective William Wisting is quick to join the rescue operation.
Luckily, by sunrise the next day, it becomes clear that the landslide
has claimed no victims.
And yet, just twenty-four hours later, a body is found – and the victim
was killed before the landslide.
As Wisting opens an investigation into the mysterious murder, he soon
discovers this death might have dangerous ties to a series of ongoing
cases.
And the clues start leading Wisting not towards an enemy on the outside
– but to a traitor in his own unit…
A dismembered corpse is discovered in the vault of a silver shop. The
police initially believe it to be that of a convicted armed robber -
but not everyone agrees with that theory. One of them is Decima
Mullins, who calls on the help of private detective Cormoran Strike as
she's certain the body in the silver vault was that of her boyfriend -
the father of her newborn baby - who suddenly and mysteriously
disappeared.
The more Strike and his business partner Robin Ellacott delve into the
case, the more labyrinthine it gets. The silver shop is no ordinary
one: it's located beside Freemasons' Hall and specialises in Masonic
silverware. And in addition to the armed robber and Decima's boyfriend,
it becomes clear that there are other missing men who could fit the
profile of the body in the vault.
As the case becomes ever more complicated and dangerous, Strike faces
another quandary. Robin seems increasingly committed to her boyfriend,
policeman Ryan Murphy, but the impulse to declare his own feelings for
her is becoming stronger than ever.
The Caribbean island of St James in the 1980s should have been
paradise. Instead the post-independence rulers turned it into a
perverted and corrupt private fiefdom. The US would not act because
its Government is anti-communist and American privateers wanted to
keep it that way. Britain didn't care enough to intervene
officially. The disgusting practices of the Prime Minister and his
family were too much to ignore, though. Philip Goshawk was sent to
try to find a solution. In this atmospheric political thriller
James Eno catches the dark mood just beneath the surface glamour of
islands in the sun.

The pulse-pounding, unmissable sequel to Nash Falls, from the international number one bestselling author of The 6:20 Man.
After turning informant for the FBI against a global criminal empire, Walter Nash has lost everything he cherished to its ruthless leader, Victoria Steers. Once gentle and sensitive, Nash’s rigorous training has forged him into a figure of power and precision with a singular mission: to take down Steers.
Defeating a mastermind requires cunning. Known for her sharp instincts, Steers confides in only a trusted few, so to penetrate her inner circle and dismantle her operation, Nash must summon all of his savvy and strength. But as he edges closer to the woman who unraveled his life, Nash finds himself oddly drawn to Steers in ways he never could’ve imagined. And what he uncovers will upend all he knows, leading him to a choice that will change everything.
Will the truth set Nash free?
Or end him?
From a former spy comes an electrifying novel about the mystery, paranoia and ruthlessness of the secretive world of British espionage.
The Head of British Intelligence is having a bad day. Only six months off retirement and Sir William Rentoul is wondering if he'll make it that far, what with the sudden descent of a brain fog dense enough to turn every day into a series of small humiliations.
To make matters worse, Parliament's Intelligence and Security Committee - the body that oversees Sir William - has received an anonymous complaint from one of his officers. Sir William dimly recalls accepting that there should be a channel for whistleblowers, but he never expected that they would pick his most sensitive case, one involving an Iranian assassin and a trail of dead bodies, or that the person who turned up to poke their nose into his files should be a lowly parliamentary researcher named Aphra McQueen, who displays smarts, tenacity and rebelliousness in unsettling measures.
Aphra seems to know more about the operation than she is letting on. What will she uncover? What is she really up to? And can she survive the unexpected events that will bounce her from London to Birmingham to Paris to Lausanne?
Summer 1999. Will joins five other idealistic graduates working for an
eccentric psychology professor. They’re going to launch a website to
change online dating forever.
No-one expects it to end in tragedy.
Twenty-five years later, Will gets an invitation: a dinner party. A
chance to see the old gang again.
But as soon as he arrives, something doesn’t seem right.
There’s an unexpected guest. The hosts are clearly keeping a secret.
And on the way in, Will is sure he heard crying.
Everyone has something to hide about what really happened that summer.
But only one of them is willing to kill to find the truth…
You may not know the stranger in room six. But they know everything
about you.
It's been fifteen years since Belinda was convicted of her husband's
murder. Now, she's ready for her life to begin again, and she's set on
that happening at Sunnyside Home for the Young at Heart.
The owner, Mabel, has spent her life here. First as an evacuee during
the Blitz and now as the care home's oldest resident, Mabel has held
the secrets of this house for as long as she can remember. Secrets that
could kill if in the wrong hands.
But history won't stay hidden forever and someone is onto them both.
Watching and listening from room number six, they'll stop at nothing to
find out the truth.
With a past this dark, is anyone as innocent as they seem?
A vivid and immersive story of obsession perfect for fans of dark
academia and Donna Tartt's The Secret History Oliver Marks has just
served ten years for the murder of one of his closest friends - a
murder he may or may not have committed. On the day he's released,
he's greeted by the detective who put him in prison. Detective
Colborne is retiring, but before he does, he wants to know what
really happened ten years ago. As a young actor studying
Shakespeare at an elite arts conservatory, Oliver noticed that his
talented classmates seem to play the same roles onstage and off -
villain, hero, tyrant, temptress - though Oliver felt doomed to
always be a secondary character in someone else's story. But when
the teachers change up the casting, a good-natured rivalry turns
ugly, and the plays spill dangerously over into life. When tragedy
strikes, one of the seven friends is found dead. The rest face
their greatest acting challenge yet: convincing the police, and
themselves, that they are blameless.

Three of them adrift on the narrow boat. Mother, son, and wickedness.
Peggy Jenkins and her teenage son, Samson, live on a remote stretch of canal in the Midlands. She is a writer and he is a schoolboy. Together, they battle against the hardness and manipulation of the man they live with. To the outside world he is a husband and father. To them, he is a captor.
Their lives are tightly controlled; if any perceived threat appears, their mooring is moved further down the canal, further away from civilisation. Until the day when the power suddenly shifts, and nothing can be the same again.
