Astrology of the Heart will be of interest to the counseling
astrologer who wants to understand the shamanic nature of astrology
at a deeper level. This book is about life paths, rites of passage,
climacteric years, turning points in the life, and how to find and
understand them in your horoscope. Not abstract theory, but a
practical manual to understanding what out-of-the-body experience,
the chakras, initiation, and other esoteric topics are really
about. As Erlewine says, "The esoteric is hidden in, of all places,
plain sight ; What is missing is our being able to grasp these
experiences. This book shows you how." Forward by Steven Forest:
"Walking his talk, Erlewine has placed a stepping stone between two
very different worlds. He stands on that middle stone, with white
water roaring all around him. And his finger is pointing at the
moon... I find myself filled with gratitude toward Michael, and
also with a sense of encouragement... This is beautiful stuff."
This book is an English translation of Book 16 of the Astrologia
Gallica. In the First Section, Morin explains the difference
between Rays and Aspects, and he then discusses the natures of the
aspects, why some of them are good and others bad, and finally he
proposes a rational theory of the orbs of the aspects. The Second
Section is devoted to Applications and Separations and Doryphories.
The Third Section discusses the topic of Combustion with examples
from Morin's own horoscope. Morin was a physician who became the
most renowned of all French astrologers. He was appointed Royal
Mathematician to King Louis XIII and was summoned to be present at
the birth of the royal heir, the future King Louis XIV. James
Herschel Holden is Research Director of the American Federation of
Astrologers and has been especially interested in the Morin Method
of horoscope interpretation.
Have you ever reached the end of a film and thought, "Wow! That
actor really nailed it. How did they do that?" Synastry, that's
how, and this is the perfect way to learn it. Think Julia Roberts
and Erin Brockovich; Leonardo DiCaprio and Howard Hughes; Daniel
Day Lewis and Abraham Lincoln; Taron Egerton and Elton John. In
this true labour of love, for which Alex Trenoweth sat through
many, many hours of films, the astrological links between a wide
range of famous characters and the actors who portrayed them are
revealed in all their glory. 'Mirror Mirror' contains over 100 case
studies, is suitable for all levels of astrologer, and will
literally keep you entertained for hours as well as changing the
way you watch films forever.
Horary Astrology Re-examined is a detailed and highly informative
book, demonstrating clearly and unambiguously that traditional
methods are applicable to all astrology. There is no division
between different 'branches'. Barbara Dunn examines the methods by
which astrologers of the past evaluated planetary strengths in
order to make a judgement on a Question, Nativity, Election or any
other type of chart. These evaluations provide a platform for
judgement today, in just the same way as they did over a thousand
years ago. For all charts, the process of evaluation is broadly the
same, what Coley calls the "short comprehensive and approved rules
of Art." The focus of this work is Questions and the aim practical
rather than philosophical. Horary Astrology Re-examined is a
comprehensive reference work, as well as a casebook, giving
judgement on over fifty Questions. Ptolemy, Al Biruni, Masha'allah,
Abu Ma'shar, Abu 'Ali Al Khayyat, Bonatti, Dariot and William Lilly
are just some of the authors referred to. Where there are doubts
arising through a poor translation, an unsympathetic translator or
other factors, Ms Dunn provides clarification. Instead of seeking
to change or modify the tools and techniques handed down by our
ancestors, or denying that astrology is about prediction, Horary
Astrology Re-examined offers confirmation that astrologers need to
"come to grips with their history, complex as it is.. like an
isolated ethnic group, they need the courage of their identity in a
hostile world." Kitson]

A decumbiture chart, taken from the time a patient 'takes to their
bed' (Latin decumbere, to lie down), is a traditional technique
used in medical astrology to help discover the causes of an illness
and to ascertain if the treatment is working and whether recovery
is likely. Very few of us have the luxury of taking to our beds
these days but the time for a doctor's appointment or the onset of
a fever for example are equally valid and the resulting chart can
be very informative. Wanda Sellar teaches the techniques in a clear
and easily understandable format then demonstrates their use in a
wide variety of case histories
This is the definitive book on derivative houses, an astrological
technique that yields amazingly accurate results. Want information
about your nephew's finances? Your partner's coworkers? Your
grandmother's neighbor? Your child's friends and teachers? Sophia
Mason explains the ins and outs of derivative houses, the
time-honored technique that makes it possible, using your
astrological chart, to forecast events in the lives of everyone
from your mate to your boss to your friends, coworkers and in-laws.
This volume contains a wealth of information and explicit
calculations for using the sidereal zodiac. After introducing the
sidereal technique the authors continue with the method of
conversion from the tropical zodiac. They go on to describe and
demonstrate the progressed horoscope, primary directing of the
angles, the sidereal solar return, and solar quotidian progression.
Examples are used throughout. Continuing on, the authors introduce
progressions, the progressed sidereal solar return, regression and
sidereal lunar return. Includes an extensive section on the art of
interpretation. If you use the tropical zodiac but want a concise
and complete description of sidereal astrology, this is the book
for you.
Who were the three wise men and what was "the Star of the Magi" that led them to Bethlehem? Using the dialogue form, Christian Hermetic Astrology explores these questions and the basis for the inauguration of "Star Wisdom." Set in the Temple of the Sun, where Hermes, the Egyptian sage, gathers with his three pupils, Tat, Asclepius, and King Ammon, these discourses focus upon the path of Christ, culminating in the Mystery of Golgotha. With Rudolf Steiner and Anne Catherine Emmerich pointing the way, Robert Powell hits produced a book, through his independent research and careful study, intended as a contribution to a modern "path of the magi" leading to a Christian wisdom of the stars.
In Astrological terms, the prenatal epoch starts at the moment of
conception. According to the author, "the prenatal epoch is a
certain moment of time, occurring approximately at the commencement
of the gestative period... when the degree ascending on the eastern
horizon, and the longitude of the moon thereat, interchange with
the longitude of the moon and the degree ascending at birth, or
their respective opposite points." (pg. 19) What this means is that
your prenatal moon was your birth ascendant, and your prenatal
ascendant is your birth moon, or the opposite points in the zodiac.
There are four possibilities: If the natal moon is above or below
the horizon at birth, and if it is increasing or decreasing in
light. So what good is this? For one thing, it helps explain infant
abnormalities, as well as infant mortality, in cases where there
are no other astrological factors. It also aids in reading charts
for multiple births: Twins, triplets, quads and quints. Closely
allied to the Prenatal Epoch is the Law of Polarity, or sex.
Properly calculated, the Prenatal Epoch will not only confirm the
sex of the individual, it will also serve to rectify the birth-time
itself. Unlike other methods of rectification, where absurdly large
time changes can result, Prenatal Epoch calculations correct minor
errors in clock-time, thus enabling greater precision in
forecasting.
An authoritative primer to Jyotish, or Vedic Astrology, this book
draws on the author's extensive study of the tradition. Andrew
Mason explains in detail the practical applications of Jyotish,
introduces the planets, signs and houses, as well as the many rich
and highly entertaining mythologies of the system with an
explanation of how to interpret them. He also covers Vedic
Astrology's sister science, Ayurveda, and describes how they
interact to provide insight into celestial timing, sustained health
and general wellbeing. With sample charts that show the
applications throughout, the book provides a complete an accessible
resource on Jyotish for students of Indian astrology and Ayurveda
practitioners. It will also be of interest to anyone with a passion
for astrology.
Born William Frederick Allan in 1860, Leo knocked about in his
early years. As he wrote of himself,
,,"."it was not until his thirtieth year, in 1890, when the
progressed Jupiter arrived at the place of the radical Sun, that
the effect of the radical Asc. conjunct Saturn was removed and a
period of prosperity commenced, for in that year the Astrologer's
Magazine (now Modern Astrology) was commenced, and all other
pursuits were put on one side in order to take up the study of
Astrology as a life work. Thenceforward all other progressed
positions, no matter how severe or evil, must be moderated by this
benefic progress of Jupiter over the Sun, trine Moon; for to
considerably accentuate this benefic influence, Jupiter at the same
time by progression reaches the parallel of the Sun at birth, a
position which will remain in force for a great many years."
"(Progressed Horoscope, pgs. 228-9)
Among other duties, Alan Leo and his associates had a lively
mail-order chart business, and wrote and published many books and
articles. He died in 1917. Of his seven major books, Charles Carter
famously said," "They were not well put together but one could find
a very great deal of information in them if one knew where to
look.""
This is one of the best books on progressions ever written.
Look carefully and you will find a great many things in it.
