Human beings in all cultures have long used the sky to tell stories
and weave myths that impart meaning to life on earth. The key to
all such systems is symbolism, in which one thing is used to
signify, imply, represent, or embody another. The papers included
in this volume are all concerned, in one way or another, with
various perceptions of the world of celestial phenomena as symbols.
These explorations range from art history and analytical psychology
to critiques and accounts of astrology, and roam from western to
non-western cultures, as well as from the ancient world to the
modern. The papers, most of which were given at the University of
Wales Trinity Saint David Sophia Centre Conference in Bath, UK, in
2011, provide a valuable addition to the scholarly literature on
our understanding of the origins, function, and nature of symbols,
especially their use in relation to cultural applications of
astronomy, astrology, and the sky.
Astrology Yoga: Cosmic Cycles of Transformation is the first
comprehensive book on the practice of Yoga using the ancient
science of Vedic Astrology, or Jyotish. Written for yoga
practitioners with a limited knowledge of astrology, Astrology Yoga
explains the dynamic relationship between these two ancient Vedic
sciences. You will learn about your yogic Sun sign and Moon sign,
the specific karmic issues in your life, the most appropriate yoga
practices based on your birth date, and the most beneficial times
to do your yoga practices. Astrology and Yoga are explained in
connection with the chakras, the nadis (energy channels), the
koshas (levels of existence), and Patanjali's Eight Limbs of Yoga.
The major yoga practices of asanas, pranayamas, mudras, mantras and
meditations are correlated with your astrological makeup so you can
discover which techniques are best for you. Mehtab Benton is a
life-long practitioner and teacher of Yoga and a certified Vedic
astrologer. He has trained hundreds of yoga teachers and given
astrological readings to spiritual seekers worldwide. He is the
author of Gong Yoga: Healing and Enlightenment through Sound.
O"Astrological Remediation" brings to the spotlight a new approach
for an imminently realistic and healing use of the astrological
birth chart. . . [a] remarkable and vastly influential
work.ONJudith Hill, astrologer.

This is the new and expanded version of Day-Signs, originally
published in 1991. In this edition there are some content and
organizational changes in the introductory chapters, the listings
of people born under each of the day-signs has been expanded, and
the day-sign look-up tables now go to 2029. The original
delineations of the 20 day-signs remain at the heart of the book,
and these have been updated to include the author's latest
insights. They are the first ever to be described in psychological
terms, and the only ones produced by the analysis of over 400
examples. For those interested in astrology, it may come as a
surprise to learn that the Maya and Aztecs of ancient Mexico and
Central America had developed a comprehensive system of signs and
cycles, very little of which has survived in the indigenous
population to the present day. Tantalizing pieces of this
astrological system do exist but there are many parts missing. One
thing is known, however, and that is the central role of the 20
named days called day-signs. It is the reconstruction and
reinterpretation of these symbolic images that is the subject of
this book. The 20 day-signs are like a zodiac - a cycle of
development that moves through various stages from origin to
completion. Each of the day-signs has distinct qualities and as the
20 signs cycle through the calendar dates, they move with a
secondary cycle of 13 numbers that deepen meanings. Finally, after
13 cycles of the 20 day-signs and 20 cycles of the 13 numbers, the
larger cycle, called the Tzolkin by the Maya and Tonalpouhalli by
the Aztecs, begins again. This 260-day cycle is at the core of the
ancient astrology of the Americas and an understanding of it is a
prerequisite to comprehending the other components of the system.
Here, in this book, is a modern interpretation of each of the
signs, translated from an ancient mindset into the shared reality
of the present. Even though the rediscovery of ancient native
American astrology is far from complete, readers will be fascinated
that significant variations in personality, discovered in a strange
culture a long time ago, are just as relevant today.

Pandit Bhambi's earlier book Vedic Sun Signs deals in detail with
the personality characteristics of people born under each Vedic Sun
Sign and each of the Sun nakshatras. In this book, he has used this
system to bring an accurate picture of the coming year for the
twelve sun signs. In addition to the forecasts of different areas
of one's life. Pandit Bhambi has also given the unique "Yukti" for
each month under each Sun Sign. Yukti is practical in nature and
something that can be done to prepare oneself for what life has to
offer. It is different from the upayas which are done after an
event takes place. The second section of this book is on Love
Signs; the combination of each Vedic Sun Sign with all the other
twelve Sun Signs. Readers will be fascinated to note the
distinctive characteristics brought out by Pandit Bhambi. He
provides the reader with a vivid picture bringing our effectively
the nuances in a relationship which would help in building a deeper
understanding. He brings out the uniqueness in relationships based
on the combinations of the various Sun Signs. The readers will get
an insight and a novel perspective of the behavioural
characteristics of their partner on reading this section.

One of the most important surviving ancient texts on Astrology. The
Earth stood fixed at the center of the universe, with crystalline
spheres within spheres whirling around it. In balance, the universe
had a vast influence on earthly events, which was the basis for the
belief in Astrology. This explanation stood for nearly a millennium
and a half, bolstered by its acceptance as orthodoxy by the
Catholic Church, until Copernicus and Galileo demolished it and
placed the heliocentric (sun-centered) system in its place.
