Contrary to modern beliefs, the medieval world was not one of superstition and ignorance. True, they lacked what we know as science, but on the other hand, they were in possession of a coherent philosophy of life, handed down to them from the Greeks and Romans, which had been further hammered out in a thousand ways over the course of centuries. When luck was with them (the period was, above all, poor), medieval peoples were surprisingly successful in dealing with the problems of everyday life. With minds open, we come to the medieval world as if it was a strange alien planet. Because their philosophy was different, their observations were different, and, therefore, their solutions were different. Some were good. Some were not. The best of them are worthy of our attention, for they can teach us much. The author, Joseph Blagrave (1610-1682), was a country doctor who lived in Reading, England, in part as he lacked the license that would let him practice openly in London. Fundamentally, he was an astrological herbalist. To this, he brought an eclectic mix of observation, experimentation, folk knowledge, and his own unique genius. Free of modern conceptions, he was able to view and treat the diseases of his day in ways that were revolutionary.

The study of BaZi (Chinese Astrology) is a sophisticated and multi-faceted exploration into how the simplest information -- a person's birth date and time -- can reveal a wealth of knowledge about that particular person's character, temperament, behavioural attributes, and luck outcome and fortune. The BaZi Structures & Structural Useful Gods Reference Book series is designed to supplement the studies and practice of BaZi students and practitioners in helping them understand how BaZi structures are devised, and how to analyse and interpret these structures. The information in this series is based on classical methods and techniques that are derived from traditional Chinese BaZi texts and material. It presents the transliterated version of these traditional texts for the modern, English-speaking practitioner and student without losing the essence of the original. This book in the BaZi Structures series focuses on Fire Structures, divided into the 2 types of Fire Day Masters, Bing and Ding Fire. The chapters are divided into how both Bing and Ding Fire Structures function respectively in all 12 months in a year. This book on Fire Structures serves as a functional and helpful reference guide and includes: The attributes of Bing and Ding Fire respectively in each of the 12 months; The Regulating Useful God Reference Guide for each of the 12 months; Detailed classical commentary on the factors affecting the overall strength of the Day Master in the different months; Additional attributes that may affect the Day Master depending on different Structures and Useful Gods; A summary for each month for Bing and Ding Day Masters respectively. This book will yield many hours of pleasurable study and reference for masters, teachers, practitioners, and students of higher level BaZi.

This book is a translation of the original, in Dutch, brought about by the overwhelming demand of his English speaking students. Books have been written about herbs with a little astrology added, about outer planets with a little naturopathy added, and about the astrological symbolism of body parts and functions. But none of these books is really about classical medical astrology: practical diagnosis and treatment on the basis of charts. Medical astrology has always been an integral unity of astrological diagnosis and treatment based on the planetary positions. This integral and seamless unity is the central theme in this book, which picks up the thread of the great tradition which ended temporarily in seventeenth century England. It is now undergoing a revivial as modern astrologers rediscover the authenticity and value of the classical techniques.
Ancient astrologers declared stars "fixed" to distinguish them from wandering stars, which they called planets. This book is the distillation of two thousand years of astrological research. It is a comprehensive survey of fixed stars in natal & mundane astrology, the stars & constellations of medieval magic, and fixed stars in astrometeorology. Robson gives their traditional meanings & their effects when combined with planets & angles. Convenient tables & a comprehensive index make this volume easy to use. Included are some 110 named stars, as well as 48 ancient constellations & 60 modern ones. Arabic, Chinese & Hindu lunar mansions are also discussed. Since its first publication in 1923, this book has been the classic on fixed stars, the one to which everyone since has referred. About the author: Vivian Erwood Robson, 1890 - 1942, was a librarian by trade. Like many librarians he had a natural bent for research, and, in his particular case, astrology. He studied ancient astrologers closely, including Ptolemy & William Lilly. His books on fixed stars, electional astrology & relationships are 20th century classics. ar

This book, a transcript of the second term of Clare Martin's introductory course in astrology given for the Centre for Psychological Astrology, continues her clear, insightful and innovative presentation of the basics of astrological study. Exploring the planetary aspects and the houses of the horoscope, the ten lessons focus on the horoscope as a dynamic interweaving of polarities: not only the angles, the houses, and their related zodiacal signs are examined from the perspective of complementarity, but also the enigmatic Moon's Nodes, which are interpreted from a fresh and exciting perspective. Major and minor aspects are illuminated by examples and discussion from the group, and the importance of a missing element or aspect is discussed with originality and depth. Volume 2 of Mapping the Psyche is a superb successor to Clare's first volume on the planets and the zodical signs, and will provide solid groundwork for students taking their first steps in astrology, as well as deepening the understanding of experienced practitioners who can benefit from Clare's beautifully structured, elegant and comprehensive approach.
This book, a transcript of the first term of Clare Martin's introductory course in astrology given for the Centre for Psychological Astrology, continues her clear, insightful and innovative presentation of the basics of astrological study. In this first of three volumes, the basic building blocks of astrological language are presented, not in the dry, 'cookbook' manner which mars so many astrology texts, but in the lively and relaxed format of the classroom. Questions from students punctuate the teaching, making the material accessible, fluent and immediately applicable to everyday life. The reader is taken on a fascinating journey through the solar system, the ancient planetary gods, and the energies and motivations symbolised by their astrological equivalents; and then through the signs of the zodiac, their elements and qualities, and the ways in which different planets express through them. The inclusion of the psychological dimension of human life, as well as the profound symbolism of alchemy as a parallel map of the individual journey, make this a fascinating in-depth exploration which will expand the understanding, not only of the student with no previous knowledge, but also of the most experienced astrological practitioner.
From Space debris to asteroid strikes to anti-satellite weapons, humanity's rapid expansion into Space raises major environmental, safety, and security challenges. They explore essential questions from, 'How do we ensure all of humanity benefits from the development of Space, and not just the world's richest people?' to 'Is it possible to avoid war in Space?' Byers and Boley explain the essential aspects of Space science, international law, and global governance in a fully transdisciplinary and highly accessible way. Addressing the latest and emerging developments in Space, they equip readers with the knowledge and tools to engage in current and critically important legal, policy, and scientific debates concerning the future development of Space.
