The Second Edition of Another Dvoretsky Classic It is very
important for the practical player to train his or her ability,
understand when to rely on intuition, rules of thumb and more
general positional considerations, when to try to solve problems by
calculating variations to the end and how to manage time to avoid
time pressure. With these goals in mind, the second edition of
Dvoretsky's Analytical Manual delivers excellent, high quality
training materials and many exercises. Here what critics had to say
about the First Edition: "Very good stuff ... There is a shocking
amount of rich material in this book ... Dvoretsky's Analytical
Manual is a magnificent piece of work ... It gets my highest
recommendation for those 2200 and above." - From Jeremy Silman's
review at JeremySilman.com "Established Dvoretsky fans will
definitely enjoy this volume; it might even be his best to date." -
From the review by Sean Marsh at MarshTowers.com. "Dvoretsky's
Analytical Manual's high-octane, excellent instructional material
is nicely enhanced by the author's erudition and wit ... A true gem

For the first time, an English-speaking audience can ap-preciate
the true nature of this famous, classic chess book as this
brand-new translation recreates the authors origi-nal intention.
Not to have read My System is regarded as a shocking gap in a chess
players education, but English speakers had only poor translations
that toned down or even deleted many passages because the
translators feared Nimzowitschs famous biting wit would be
controversial. Nimzowitschs ideas about how to play better chess
have had a profound influence on modern chess thinking. It is
commonly agreed that almost every chess master in the world has
studied Nimzowitschs work. This is the first new English
translation in decades. This is the first new English translation
in decades and, unlike previous translations, does not censor or
dilute the authors writing.
'Learn from Michal Krasenkow' is a splendid walk through the games
and life of the author. Michal presents his games in the most
instructive way and gives the reader a deeper look of his own
thinking. We are convinced you will find many fascinating games
inspiring the reader to improve his game as well!
The book before you is a product of what happens when two chess
players start a relationship (which started over six years ago) and
enter a dialogue about how to get ready for the next tournament.
The content of this book is a training program for players who plan
to play an over-the-board tournament a few weeks from the time they
start training with this book. This book, unlike other similar
books in the field of improvement, does not have a central theme.
In other words, we are not focused solely on openings, middlegames
or endgames. Moreover, the book does not only concentrate on
specific themes (calculation, positional decisions, or other
strategic aspects), though many of these concepts are addressed
throughout the book. Instead, this book offers a holistic view on
how to approach every single position in it, regardless of the
phase of the game or the nature of the position. We try to teach
players how to identify types of decisions in various positions,
while pointing at the trade-off between a hardcore calculation and
a heuristics judgment.
The Ruy Lopez is perhaps the most classical of all chess openings.
It dates back to the 16th century and has featured in the opening
repertoire of every modern world champion. It is a highly flexible
variation: Bobby Fischer used it to create numerous powerful
strategic masterpieces. In the hands of Anatoly Karpov it led to
many of his trademark positional squeezes, whereas Garry Kasparov
often used it as a springboard for his typically powerful attacks.
Opening Repertoire: The Ruy Lopez is a modern examination of this
perennial favourite. Joshua Doknjas has put together a repertoire
for White based firmly around contemporary trends in the Lopez. He
examines all aspects of this highly complex opening and provides
the reader with well-researched, fresh, and innovative analysis.
Each annotated game has valuable lessons on how to play the opening
and contains instructive commentary on typical middlegame plans. *
A complete repertoire for White in the Ruy Lopez. * A question and
answer approach provides an excellent study method.
This is the very first book to focus exclusively on Hikaru
Nakamura, the greatest American chess player since the legendary
Robert James Fischer. The book features a prologue penned by
Lubomir Kavalek, who was none other than "Bobbys" insider and
supporter at the "match of the century" against Boris Spasski in
1972. In this book, grandmaster Karsten Muller from Hamburg and
chess journalist Raymund Stolze from Berlin document the
24-year-olds fascinating journey to the top of world chess.
Interestingly, Hikaru was not a typical child prodigy, and at his
first Junior World Championships did not even make it onto the
winners' podium. Although he won a World Cup medal aged just 13,
today he creates true miracles.

and practice of open and semi-open chess.
Akiba Rubinstein is a famous figure in the in the history of chess.
At his peak, he was arguably the strongest player in the World, and
only the outbreak of World War I deprived him of the opportunity to
challenge his main rival Emanuel Lasker for the World Championship
title. Rubinstein was an exceptionally talented player whose legacy
includes many truly brilliant games. He helped to develop several
chess openings and is widely acknowledged to be one of the greatest

Do you like setting your opponent problems from the very first
move? And are you happy to roll the dice and take some risks? Then
enter the intriguing world of the Blackmar-Diemer Gambit! The
Blackmar-Diemer Gambit is a dangerous attacking opening which has
amassed a cult following - a loyal band of supporters like no other
in chess. White sacrifices a pawn in return for a strong initiative
which tests Black's defensive capabilities to the limit. Some
experts have questioned its objective soundness but there's no
doubting its effectiveness over the board, where pressure and a
ticking clock often mean it's impossible to find the right defence.
In this book, Christoph Scheerer takes a modern-day look at the
gambit. He examines in detail the most promising lines for White
and the most resilient defences for Black, discusses the key ideas
for both sides and highlights the many traps awaiting the
unsuspecting player. It includes up-to-date coverage of the key
lines. It is packed with original ideas and analysis. It is ideal
for club and tournament players.
Clear, straightforward guide by noted expert coaches readers through fundamentals of attacking and positional play, as well as how to approach the endgame. Crucial processes of assessing positions and choosing moves are examined in depth; also, how to cope with difficult positions and time-trouble. 384 diagrams.
The Modern Defence is an opening that will appeal to player of an
experimental nature. Black allows White to establish an apparently
impressive position in the centre. The plan is to use this
structure as a target - it will be restrained, undermined and
eventually destroyed. When this plan works it can succeed
beautifully but, naturally, if Black's play is inaccurate there is
a danger of being overwhelmed. For this reason a thorough
understanding of the intricacies of this opening is essential.
Opening Repertoire: The Modern Defence examines all aspects of this
highly complex opening and provides the reader with
well-researched, fresh, and innovative analysis. Each annotated
game has valuable lessons on how to play the opening and contains
instructive commentary on typical middlegame plans. The suggested
lines for Black are based around the very latest games and
analsysis. * A complete repetoire for Black in the Modern Defence.
* A question and answer approach provides an excellent study
method.
