LEICA SF 24D

The Leica SF 24D electronic flash unit is designed to be compact and also to provide the maximum distance between the flash reflector and the camera lens, which minimizes the risk of red eye when photographing people and animals. With the Leica M9, M8.2, M8, M7 and M6 TTL the light output is controlled by its TTL flash exposure meter; with other Leica M models it is controlled by the automatic flash itself. In automatic mode, six automatic flash apertures 2.0/2.8/4.0/5.6/8/11 are available. An override switch allows the exposure to be varied by plus/minus three stops. All settings and other information are legibly displayed on the Leica SF 24D's illuminated LCD. These include an exposure confirmation indication and flash ready light which are simultaneuously displayed in the viewfinder of the Leica M9, M8.2, M8, M7 and M6 TTL.

The ISO film speed range of the Leica SF 24D extends from ISO 12 to ISO 3600 in M/TTL range and from ISO 25 to ISO 800 in A mode. The illumination angle corresponds to a focal length range of 35 to 85 mm, and can be extended by means of two supplied diffusers, enabling flash exposure with wide-angle lenses down to 24 mm and telephoto lenses up to 135 mm focal length respectively. Power is supplied by two 3 Volt 123 A lithium batteries, permitting rapid recycling times.

The PENTAX XW 30 eyepiece provides a focal length of 30mm, long eye relief (20mm), and is exclusively designed for astronomical observations. Freckles and skin blemishes are diminished strongly, but lips are rendered more pale (to compensate for you may use a dark lipstick!). Its filter factor is approximately 3.

With strong blue suppression, which extends into the blue-green, clouds in the sky look very natural, but not yet dramatic. Distant views with light haze become clearer. An ideal filter, especially for landscape and plant photographs. Its filter factor is approximately 2.

Single Coating
Each glass surface is vacuum coated with one layer of Anti-Reflection coating. This single layer helps to prevent internal ghosting and reflections. It also improves light transmission from approximately 92% (uncoated glass) to over 98%.

This filter uses our standard B+W F-Pro filter mount, which has a front accessory thread and is made of brass. Compared to the earlier standard mount introduced in 2001, the F-Pro mount has become thinner. Now it can be used with wide angle lenses, including most 24mm focal lengths on a full frame body, without vignetting. Another advantage of the F-Pro mount is it's modified retaining ring, which is no longer threaded in from the front, but holds the filter glass in place from the back. When removing a filter or lens hood that has been screwed on too tight to the filter, the retaining ring is not at risk of loosening.
NOTE: diopters are mounted in the older mount due to glass thickness.
