Thirty-five years ago, Jeanne Adlon became New York City s first full-time cat sitter, and since then, she has done it all. Jeanne has dodged tarantulas, served up kosher cat meals, and fed pampered felines in Waterford crystal goblets. "Cat Calls "recounts Jeanne s experiences, from adventures with quirky cats to the challenges faced by a woman who s determined to reach her clients despite blinding winter storms. But since Jeanne Adlon is no ordinary cat sitter, "Cat Calls "offers far more than tales of the cat. Over years of devoting herself to feline needs, Jeanne has become a recognized expert on cat care, so along with coauthor Susan Logan, Jeanne designed each of "Cat Calls "chapters to focus on important issues for cat owners, including adopting new pets, feeding your cat, coping with litter box problems, and much more. Charming anecdotes about Jeanne s furry clients add examples of cat-care strategies that work. Whether you re looking for commonsense cat-care advice or you simply want to relax with stories about little cats in a big city, "Cat Calls "is sure to please."

Jo Coudert did not start out with seven cats. She began with just one, Kate, a gorgeous tortoiseshell Persian who knew exactly who she was - the apple of her mistress's eye. But as Jo a New Yorker, began spending weekends, and eventually all her time, at GoWell, a small house in rural New Jersey, she began to acquire cats - or, more accurately, they acquired her: strays, waifs, orphaned kittens, homeless toms, and cats who came to dinner and never left. Seven Cats and the Art of Living tells about the cats - Kate, Poppy, Chester, Socksie, Trot, Bitty, and Sweet William - who shared GoWell with Jo and her dog Freebie. Their stories are instructive, quietly inspiring, written with simplicity, and a joy to read. From Poppy, whose early mistreatment gave her a mistrust of the world and all creatures in it, to abandoned Bitty, whose innate cheerfulness made every day an adventure and every human a friend, these are cats that will capture our hearts. But more important, through the lessons they teach about forming character, choosing attitudes, daring to love, taking risks, feeling fear or acting with courage, and living in the past or living in the moment, these are cats that can enrich our lives.
How intimately can a human being really know her pet? In this candid memoir, Linda A. Mohr shares her remarkable relationship with her affectionate and caring Siamese mix named Tatianna. A playful and joyful feline, Tatianna brings a spark of life to her human companion's home and teaches her owner more about love and devotion than Mohr could have ever imagined. It doesn't matter if Mohr's hair is unkempt, her spirits depressed, and her face a fright, Tatianna is always there, blue eyes focused, content to sit and purr on Mohr's lap, her soft fur stroked by loving human hands. But when her beloved Tatianna becomes ill, Mohr's heart aches. A battle ensues to save her pet's life-a battle they fight together but eventually lose. The bond between them grows even stronger, nurturing a deeper communication, one beyond human understanding. Mohr candidly describes how she grieves for her feline companion but even now feels connected to the faithful Tatianna who has never really left her side-she is simply in another dimension. Filled with the unconditional love between pet and owner, "Tatianna" is a must-read for anyone who has ever loved and lost a special animal friend.

The allure of cats meets the joy of Paint by Sticker! It's an irresistible combination. With more than 1.75 million copies in print in less than two years, Paint by Sticker is the mindful and artistic activity that also delivers beautiful, satisfying results. And now comes a new title with tremendous appeal. Paint by Sticker: Cats includes everything needed to create 12 full-colour portraits of favourite felines - a playful ginger kitten hanging from her paws; a pair of sweet, cuddling cats; an elegant, smoky gray Siamese. Rendered in "low-poly" (a computer graphics style using geometric polygon shapes to create a 3D effect), each image is divided into hundreds of spaces, each with a number that corresponds to a particular sticker. Simply find the sticker, peel it, and place it in the right space. Add the next, and the next, and the next - soon, a vibrantly colorful cat image emerges from the black-and-white template with dimension and spirit. The satisfaction of watching a cat painting come to life will be completely engrossing to feline fans and crafters of all ages - and the perforated card-stock pages allow artwork to be easily removed for framing or display.
Behind a thin veneer of respectability, life in a small English village is not all it may seem. Through the eyes of Chumleigh the cat, the rural goings on are recorded in this funny and poignant diary, with an element of adult humour. From a cats perspective, Chumleigh tells all about life in his house and the antics of his neighbours. From domestic disharmony to a cannabis farm in next doors garden shed, he sees it all and shares it all in his diary. This is a cat who enjoys the finer elements of feline existence like tuna, sleeping in the warm and cat treats. But life doesnt always pan out the way he would like. Supported by a rich cast of locals, as odd and individualistic as still found in many small villages, Chumleigh charts a year in his life. Traumatic visits to the vet, turf wars with the local ginger tom and a desire to eliminate a neighbours yappy dog are all set down with great humour and insight. If youve ever lived in a village or owned a cat, this will make you laugh. If youve never lived in a village and never owned a cat, this will be a wonderful insight into what you have been missing. The Secret Diary of Chumleigh the Cat is a year in the life of a cat who never ceases to be amazed at just what goes on around him!
When long-term cat owner and Dutch photographer Marcel Heijnen moved to Hong Kong, he was delighted to find that many of his neighbours were of the feline variety. It was only natural for him to make friends with the local shop cats and their owners, taking photos as he went. And this book is the charming result. Against a background of Hong Kong's bustling dried goods trade, dusty shelves groaning with traditional products, the beloved cats either stand out as shop mascots or magically melt away behind boxes and jars. Meanwhile, their innermost thoughts, delivered deadpan, are revealed through Ian Row's intuitive haiku and stories. With 90 illustrations in colour
While cat owners adore their purring, fuzzy friends, cats can have another, rather unpleasant, side. Some pee on carpets, shred upholstery, chomp houseplants, caterwaul at all hours, and scratch and bite. Skeptics will claim that it's impossible to train a cat. Happily, Wendy Christensen knows they're wrong. True, cats are intelligent, adaptable, patient, independent, stubborn, observant, and extremely quick learners. But they're also remarkably self-interested and quick to exploit a good deal. "Outsmarting Cats" enables you to persuade your cat that what you want is also what she wants. Whatever your specific cat problem, Wendy Christensen gives all the latest information on what works, and what doesn't. She shares tried-and-true tips and resources for resolving even the thorniest behavior problems. And she'll tell you how to head off future problems, simply by understanding how your cat thinks.
Feline stressed? Would you like a cat-alyst to purr-fect peace in your life? Ever watched enviously as your furry friend finds a sunbeam and stretches out on it - on your bed - as you rush to catch the bus? Follow this sound advice, straight from the moggie's mouth, and maybe you can achieve catitude too. This is a humorous guide to finding and appreciating - cat-style - those peaceful moments amid the chaos and stress of working and domestic life. It's no coincidence that your cat has decided to sleep on your keyboard, or your tax return, or that report you should have finished last week. They're saying, "Pay me attention and why not get me some food while you're at it"... but they're also saying, "Find the stillness within the detail, amid the tumult, of your hectic life. Take some time for you to be you." Probably. This is a cat's guide to beating anxiety, appreciating the moment and being mindful. So look around you, take some time to smell the catnip, take a lint roller to your hairy trousers, and try some Meowditation. Eleanor Abraham is a Glasgow-based writer and editor. Based on an idea by Liz Small

Whether it is their actions caught on camera or their subtle reactions to humans, felines have special charms. People who have kittens or cats as members of their families see a bit of their pets within the pages of Cat Chat. Even though cats' personalities and needs are the opposite from one another in many ways, Mikie, Eric and Dobbie (the boys) have become friends, brothers and playmates. They engage in feline caring for one another, chasing each other and occasionally giving each other a feline swat. Through candid photographs, Sherry Splaver Rotman has elaborated on the boys' investigation of their physical environment that includes their human parents and feline siblings. Their mischievousness, which creates much household tumult, brings their photos alive and allows for a phrase or sentence to describe how she thinks they perceive their lives. In short vignettes Sherry writes the astute advice she thinks each sibling gives to the others. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of Cat Chat will be donated to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
