Rev. James A. Solomon is the President of Jesus People's Revival
Ministries Inc., as well as the General Overseer and Senior Pastor
of Jesus Family Chapel, with 28 branches in Nigeria, the United
Kingdom and several other countries. The international headquarters
for both ministries is based in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United
States of America. Rev. Solomon is a man who is truly gifted with
an extraordinary anointing on the subject of Spiritual Warfare,
Healing and Deliverance. In his efforts to serve the body of Christ
beyond his own ministries, he also serves as director for the West
African Regional Directorate of the International Accelerated
Missions (I.A.M.), a network of missionary churches based in New
York. Rev. Solomon started from very humble beginnings in his
native country of Nigeria, West Africa, way back in the 1980s. With
his team of ministers and due to popular demand, he has taken the
revelation of Spiritual Warfare and Deliverance to massive venues
such as the stadium domes in the major cities of Nigeria. He has
also conducted a series of conferences, and organizes quarterly
Deliverance Night Services in the United Kingdom, Europe, Canada,
Japan and all over the United States. Many have received freedom
from satanic bondage and oppression at these quarterly deliverance
services. He is in high demand as a guest minister in many crusades
and conferences. He currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with his
family. He is married to Rev. Mrs. Florence A. James and they are
blessed with 4 children
Once again, well-known and beloved author Herbert Brokering offers
spiritual nourishment, this time based on Christina Georgina
Rossetti's Christmas carol, "In the Bleak Midwinter." This set of
forty meditations and prayers can be opened at leisure or followed
as a guide to daily devotions. Either way, it is a rich and
imaginative reflection on the incarnation as God's continual gift
to us. The overall tone of the book shows the depth and beauty,
paradoxes and perplexities of the nativity.
The meditative prayer practices known as Hesychasm and the Jesus
Prayer have played an important role in the history of Eastern
Orthodox Christianity. This book explores how these prayer
practices have spread from a primarily monastic setting within
Orthodox Christianity, into general Orthodox Christian usage, and
finally into wider contemporary Western culture. As a result of
this gradual geographic shift from a local to a global setting,
caused mainly by immigration and dissemination of related texts,
there has been a parallel shift of interpretation causing
disagreement. By analyzing ongoing conversations on the practices,
this book shows how such disagreements are due to differences in
the way groups understand the ideas of authority and tradition.
These fundamental ideas lie beneath much of the current discussion
on particular aspects of the practices and also contribute to the
wider academic debate over the globalization and appropriation of
religious traditions.
Based on years of original research, Never to Leave Us Alone is the
first book-length treatment of the prayer life of the famed
religious and civil rights leader. Drawing on personal prayers that
King recited as a seminarian and graduate student, preacher,
pastor, and then civil rights leader, award-winning historian Lewis
Baldwin explains how King turned to both private prayer and
meditation for his own spiritual fulfillment, and to public prayer
as part of his sermonic discourse, as an aspect of his pastoral
care, and as a way of moving, inspiring, and reaffirming people in
the context of a crusade for equal rights, social justice, and
peace. In the end, Baldwin argues, King's prayer life and
reflections offer important keys not only to King the man but also
to our own cultivation of core human values. The book includes
photographs.
