God has something to say to his daughters. That He will always love them . . . no matter what. In 54:10 author Jada McClintick delivers this message while taking the reader through stories of her own life. Filled with both humor and heartbreak, McClintick makes herself relatable to every woman by the vulnerability and transparency with which she describes some of her choices and mistakes and the lessons she learned, as well as her boldness in her proclamation of faith and her love of God. But the real journey isn't in the stories themselves but in the conversations that she had with God about those stories. McClintick shares with the reader the verbatim dialog between herself and God as she was experiencing various events in her life as well as reflecting on them later. God's love is evidenced throughout each conversation and story. His grace and mercy are reflected in the words spoken back and forth between the two. Have you ever wondered what God would say to you? 54:10 urges the reader to have their own dialog with God and displays the ease with which the author communicates with her Heavenly Father. The overarching message of the text comes through clearly as the abundant, overwhelming, never-ending, and unshakable love that God has for his girls.
Prayer can be so much more than a simple conversation. It can be a wordless connection with God, a step beyond the boundary of the separated self. It can be a way to listen to the silence. "And it can be learned." We can learn how to pray in ways we never thought possible. It doesn't take more effort; it takes more understanding. Wilson's book shows how the brain is designed by God To calm itself To relax into love To become increasingly aware of how connected everything is in God To experience a deeper intimacy with our creator Prayer is something that our brains "want" to do with a little help. Ken Wilson tells us how. Praise for "Mystically Wired" "Smart, savvy, candid, credible, unafraid, self-effacing, and shot through with passionate love of Jesus . . . yes, hands down, this is the best book on prayer that I have ever read. -- Phyllis Tickle "Compiler, The Words" "of Jesus: A Gospel of the" "Sayings of Our Lord" "I confess, I don't normally like books on prayer, but "Mystically ""Wired "is a big exception. While this book is incredibly practical, I was routinely blown away by the intuitive genius of Ken's view and application of prayer. Page after page, thinking I knew what was next, I was surprised with fresh insight and unique perspectives on connecting with God. Being an evangelist, I was excited to realize I could also send this to spiritual friends who don't follow Jesus as a way to introduce him." -- R. York Moore "National Evangelist" "InterVarsity Christian" "Fellowship USA" "It began the day Jesus' disciples came to him and asked, 'Lord, teach us to pray.' Ever since, Christ-followers have been wanting to learn the ways of prayer. Ken Wilson's "Mystically Wired "is an extraordinary contribution to that learning tradition. It's a wonderful read that leaves you feeling, 'Yes, this is for me. Yes, I can do this. Yes, it's within reach.'" -- Brian McLaren "Author/Speaker/Activist" "I wandered away from religion because religion thought it had all the answers. Pastor Ken Wilson, though, understands that life and faith are really about having the right questions. If you want to pray for favors, put this book down now. If you want the answers, the help here is only partial. But if you're looking for a wide-ranging inquiry, and a path that can bring you closer to the mystery--without the mumbo-jumbo--delve within." -- Carl Safina "Author, Song for the Blue ""Ocean and The View From ""Lazy Point" ""Mystically Wired "was a breath of fresh apologetic air for me. I pray and I experience God, and I find fixed hour prayer deeply meaningful, but this book shows that God made us to do such things and our brain is wired to communicate with God." -- Scot McKnight "Karl A. Olsson Professor in" "Religious Studies" "North Park University" "In my library there are scores of books on prayer--by legends and modern guides as well. It is not easy to make a genuine contribution to this body of literature. But Ken Wilson has done so. "Mystically Wired "manages to bring together the best of the sciences and philosophies of mind, brain, and consciousness with deep spirituality and candid personal reflection. While it will happily fit my on my shelf, it fits best in a heart yearning to pray." -- Todd Hunter "Anglican Bishop" "Ken Wilson's new book is fascinating intellectually and engaging spiritually. Its theme is a great discussion starter with Christians and non-Christians alike " -- Dr. Joel C. Hunter "Senior Pastor" "Northland, A Church" """Distributed"
'The Lord's Prayer' stands at the heart of Christianity. Over the past two millennia, it has been spoken millions of times by millions of people around the world. Rudolf Steiner affirms the power of this prayer, given by Jesus Christ himself, and encourages us to begin to understand it at deeper levels. Such an understanding, he explains, is now necessary for humanity's further development. In the four lectures he gave on this subject, collected here under one cover, Rudolf Steiner penetrates the esoteric meanings of the Lord's Prayer, relating its seven petitions to the seven spiritual and physical bodies of the human being. He also discusses the difference between prayer and meditation, and shows how true prayer is selfless in nature. This volume features an introduction by Judith von Halle, whose work is valued for her experiential knowledge of the Lord's Prayer and the events of Christ's life.
"Blumhardt's conviction that God is present and powerful and able to still work his will in the world today breathes through every prayer. These are as striking, moving, and provocative now as they surely were when Blumhardt prayed them." John E. Phelan, Jr., The Covenant Companion End each day of the year peacefully by turning to God with a prayer and a Bible passage. We want to turn to God at the end of each day, but often don't find the words to express our deepest feelings and longing. This collection of prayers is one of the few daily devotionals especially intended for use in the evening. Blumhardt's words bespeak a certainty in God's nearness. The peace that flows from them comes from an unshakeable conviction that God's kingdom is indeed on the way. In stormy and challenging times like our own, most of us need this reassurance frequently, if not daily.
The spiritual exercise of making decrees finds its precedent in both Old and New Testaments--the practice means simply quoting God's promises back to him, "reminding" him of what he has said. This kind of prayer is one of the most vital forms of intercession. In fact, the practice of decreeing God's Word not only builds our faith but transforms our lives. In this powerful and enlightening book, bestselling author and entrepreneur Patricia King helps readers grasp the power of inspired and finely tuned prayer. King explains how to * find specific texts of Scripture for your need * counter problems with God's Word * speak truth into reality * understand the difference between confessing the Word, proclaiming the Word, and decreeing the Word * and more Join countless believers who love the Word of God and honor its authority through their prayers. Accept the challenge to pray the words of Scripture boldly--in God's timing, for his will and purposes.
New York Times bestselling author John Eldredge offers readers a step-by-step guide to effective Christian prayer--now in trade paper. How would it feel to enter into prayer with confidence and assurance-certain that God heard you and that your prayers would make a difference? It would likely feel amazing and unfamiliar. That's because often our prayers seem to be met with silence or don't appear to change anything. Either response can lead to disappointment or even despair in the face of our ongoing battles and unmet longings-especially when we don't know if we're doing something wrong or if some prayers just don't work. New York Times bestselling author John Eldredge confronts these issues directly in Moving Mountains by offering a hopeful approach to prayer that is effective, relational, and rarely experienced by most Christians. In a world filled with danger, adventure, and wonder, we have at our disposal prayers that can transform the events and issues that matter most to us and to God. Moving Mountains shows you how to experience the power of daily prayer, learn the major types of prayers-including those of intervention, consecration, warfare, and healing-and to discover the intimacy of the cry of the heart prayer, listening prayer, and praying Scripture. Things can be different, and you personally have a role to play with God in bringing about that change through prayer. It may sound too good to be true, but this is your invitation to engage in the kind of prayers that can move God's heart as well as the mountains before you.
