Understand, confront, and walk in freedom from fear with renowned
Bible teacher and New York Times bestselling author, Joyce Meyer.
Fear will never entirely disappear from your life, but you can
confront and overcome it! Courage isn't the absence of fear; it is
moving forward in the presence of fear. Courageous people do what
they believe in their hearts they should do, no matter how they
feel or what doubts fill their minds. In DO IT AFRAID, Joyce Meyer
explains that fear is everywhere and affects everyone. It rules
many people, but it doesn't have to be that way. The first portion
of this book will help you understand fear and recognize how it
works in your life, and the second will help you confront fear. In
the third section, you will learn about mindsets that will position
you for freedom from some of the most common fears people face.
Fear is the devil's favorite tool in the toolbox of schemes he uses
to destroy God's good plan for you. He uses it to hold you back and
prevent progress in every area of your life. That is why you must
take ownership of your problems and open your heart to God. He will
help bring light into darkness. If you can understand fear and how
it operates, you can be free from it!

Few people have influenced the development of Christian schools in
the Reformed tradition in North America and around the world as
much as Nicholas Wolterstorff. As a tribute to his contributions,
Calvin College education professors Gloria Goris Stronks and
Clarence W. Joldersma have drawn together the world-renowned
Christian philosopher's thoughts and reflections on Christian
education over the last three decades. The guiding principle in
making selections was the inclusion of pieces that discuss what
makes education truly Christian. Wolterstorff's writings on
education are divided into four sections that focus on the nature
of Christian education, the criticisms of Christian education,
Christian learning within a pluralistic society, and the goals of
Christian education. Of special interest is Wolterstorff's
increasing concern with the role of justice in Christian education.
Educating for Life portrays Wolterstorff's evolving thinking on
education while paying tribute to him as one of the premier
Christian philosophers of our day. Nicholas P. Wolterstorff,
longtime professor of philosophy at Calvin College, is Noah Porter
Professor of Philosophical Theology at Yale Divinity School. His
teaching and writing have influenced countless evangelical students
and scholars throughout the years. He is the author of many books
including Educating for Responsible Action, Until Peace and Justice
Embrace, and Divine Discourse. Gloria Goris Stronks and Clarence W.
Joldersma are professors in the education department at Calvin
College

Where do most people today turn for leadership? Some examine the world of politics.
Some look for models in the entertainment industry. Many look to the world of
business-to the successful stories of CEOs, management consultants, and
theoreticians with PhDs. However, the truth is that the best source of leadership
teaching today comes not from any of these sources but from the one true source:
the Word of God. The Bible is the greatest source on leadership that has ever been
written.
John Maxwell has spent decades researching and equipping others for leadership, and
his primary source of leadership principles has always been the Word of God. In this
study, he draws on the stories of the men and women in Scripture to show how they
demonstrated what he calls "the 21 irrefutable laws of leadership." He also shows how
some of the characters in the Bible failed to portray these leadership principles, and
how that affected them and, in some cases, entire populations of people groups.
Sessions include in-depth studies on the principles of leadership followed by men and
women such as Moses, Joshua, Deborah, Ruth, David, Elijah, Josiah, Esther,
Nehemiah, Peter, Barnabas, and especially Jesus. Each session contains the following
sections:
- The Law: An overview of the law and how it operates (includes quotes from the
book and discussion questions based on the principles covered)
- Biblical example: An overview of the primary character in the Bible who
demonstrated that law or wrote about that law
- Another look: Bible study questions based on the highlighted passages
- Highlighting the lesson: Questions that focus on the central teaching points
- Lasting implications: Questions to help draw out personal conclusions
- Daily assignments: Five sets of questions that guide readers on how to put
the laws into effect during their week
This study has been designed to enhance readers' experience of working through John
Maxwell's leadership materials and is intended both for individual use and for small
groups.

The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod commissioned this book for the
purpose of providing a resource for teachers of the Small Catechism
that would help them present the Catechism as a vital, living thing
in church and classroom, as part and parcel of all other facets of
learning, not as something detached from it. The goal of this book
is to help avoid a cold, formal, rigid and ultimately boring way of
presenting the Catechism. The book contains numerous suggestions
for teachers and offers lesson plans, and a myriad of other
suggestions for presenting all of the Small Catechism and its
Explanation. Though based on an older translation of the Small
Catechism, it is every bit as useful today as when it was first
published.
