As parents of adult children, we often worry about whether our
children will make good choices when they're on their own. Praying
the Scriptures for Your Adult Children provides you with biblically
based prayers and encouraging stories to guide you as you pray for
your adult children through anything they face. Parent and author
Jodie Berndt understands what it's like to release children into
the world and still care deeply about them and everything they're
up against in life. In Praying the Scriptures for Your Adult
Children, Jodie shares prayers designed with your adult children in
mind, whether they're just leaving the nest, flying well on their
own, or struggling to take off at all. Jodie shares advice on
navigating all aspects of adulthood with encouraging stories from
experienced parents who are praying their children through
real-life issues like leaving the church, struggling with health
concerns, navigating broken marriages, fighting addiction, dealing
with financial problems, and more. In Praying the Scriptures for
Your Adult Children, Jodie addresses some of the most difficult
questions that confront parents: How can I support my children when
they make decisions I disagree with? Is it too late to start
praying for my children? What does the Bible teach us about praying
for our children? With the grace and wisdom of someone who's been
there, Jodie shares the tools and encouragement you need to find
the strength to keep praying, even as you doubt yourself and grieve
over your children's choices. Whatever you're praying for, Praying
the Scriptures for Your Adult Children will help you find
confidence and peace taken straight from Scripture, guiding you to
the bedrock of God's promises as you release your children to God's
shepherding care.
Holy Habits is an initiative to nurture Christian discipleship. It
explores Luke's model of church found in Acts 2:42-47, identifies
ten habits and encourages the development of a way of life formed
by them. These resources, which include an introductory guide, have
been developed to help churches explore the habits in a range of
contexts and live them out in whole-life, missional discipleship.

Through his work as a physician, Karl Koenig explored the
relationship between the rhythm of the seasons, the Christian
festivals, thinking in particular about their effect on human
beings and communities. This fascinating collection of Koenig's
essays, lectures and notes looks at the cycle of the year and the
different aspects of all the Christian festivals, from Easter to
the Twelve Holy Days of Christmas. Koenig discusses the idea that
human beings can derive inner strength from festival celebrations
through an active social life and participation in community, and
also that a strong, healthy community life relies on the
celebration of festivals.
Growing into the daily use of these meditative prayers makes us
conscious of how we stand in great world rhythms. We learn to
follow the alternation of waking and sleeping, the ordering of the
seven days of the week, and the course of the seasons, as gifts of
heavenly powers gradually become known to us. This is a small,
elegant guide to aid meditation.
Mary Colwell makes a 500-mile solo pilgrimage along the Camino
Frances, winding through forests, mountains, farmland, industrial
sprawls and places of worship, weaving her experiences of the
Camino with natural history, spirituality and modern
environmentalism. Ancient pathways through the modern world are
gathering places for contemplation and touch-points for unexpected
kindness, intense spirituality, demon-slaying, strange goings-on
and magical tales. Pilgrims pitch themselves against heat, cold,
wet, dry, hunger, thirst, and sometimes pain as the nature around
them offers succour, medicine and, at times, warnings. Pilgrimages
are physical journeys through space as well as metaphysical
journeys through time. The same tracks follow the same routes
through a planet always in flux, providing still points in a
turning world. Our ancestors trod them before us and left their
fretful or hopeful dreams in monuments scattered across the
landscape. These ornate cathedrals, standing stones, mysterious
caves and secret hermitages speak of a hunger for pardon,
immortality, beauty and a release from fear. Yet, undertaking a
pilgrimage is acknowledging that while the world may change,
humanity does not. Pilgrims have always walked in times of
upheaval. In Gathering Places, author, nature campaigner and
veteran solo walker Mary Colwell relates her pilgrimage along the
Camino Frances in a time of global pandemic when the focus of
political power in the western world was shifting. The 500 miles of
pathways of the Camino wind through mountains, forests, farmland,
plains, cities, villages and industrial sprawl, as well as places
of worship. In a typical year, 100,000 people walk this route or
part of it. Mary walked the entire path virtually alone, nature her
only fellow traveller. In this delightful book, she weaves her
experiences of the Camino with natural history, history, spiritual
stories and modern environmentalism.
During study of the scriptures for his previous book, Alpha and
Omega, it became apparent to the author that when the Lord talked
to the disciples about His coming for Israel, He also intimated
that there is likely to be a period of delay between the signs of
His expected coming, and His actual appearance for them as their
Messiah. In the light of this the author decided to follow through
and find out what this period may involve, and his conclusions are
set out in this book. Whilst Israel, the Lord's people, remain
special to Him, even more important is that His Word and promises
will be kept, and that His Father's will is completed in its
perfection. This book is an attempt to interpret how Israel will be
expected to play its part, and how in the process it will be proved
faithful before the Lords return.
From Tom Wright's meditation on Jesus' teaching in the Sermon on
the Mount: 'Prayer is one of life's great mysteries. Most people
pray at least sometimes; some people, in many very different
religious traditions, pray a great deal. At its lowest, prayer is
shouting into a void on the off-chance there may be someone out
there listening. At its highest, prayer merges into love, as the
presence of God becomes so real that we pass beyond words and into
a sense of his reality, generosity, delight and grace. For most
Christians, most of the time, it takes place somewhere in between
those two extremes. To be frank, for many people it is not just a
mystery but a puzzle. They know they ought to do it but they aren't
quite sure how'.
