Emily Bronte's only novel, Wuthering Heights remains one of
literature's most disturbing explorations into the dark side of
romantic passion. Heathcliff and Cathy believe they're destined to
love each other forever, but when cruelty and snobbery separate
them, their untamed emotions literally consume them.
This book, originally published in 1908, contains the classic tale
of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Here Lewis Carroll tells the
story of a little girl who falls down a rabbit hole into a land of
fantasy and dream-like nonsense. In this volume the famous story is
decorated with Walter Hawes's dainty pen and ink illustrations.
Pook Press are reprinting this book for adults and children to
enjoy once again.

The Phantom of the Opera' Kester Grant, Sunday Times bestselling
author of The Court of Miracles Isda does not exist. At least not
beyond the opulent walls of the opera house. Cast into a well at
birth for being one of the magical few who can manipulate memories
when people sing, she was saved by Cyril, the opera house's owner.
Since that day, he has given her sanctuary from the murderous world
outside. All he asks in return is that she use her power to keep
ticket sales high-and that she stay out of sight. For if anyone
discovers she survived, Isda and Cyril would pay with their lives.
But Isda breaks Cyril's cardinal rule when she meets Emeric Rodin,
a charming boy who throws her quiet, solitary life out of balance.
His voice is unlike any she's ever heard, but the real shock comes
when she finds in his memories hints of a way to finally break free
of her gilded prison. Haunted by this possibility, Isda spends more
and more time with Emeric, searching for answers in his music and
his past. But the price of freedom is steeper than Isda could ever
know. For even as she struggles with her growing feelings for
Emeric, she learns that in order to take charge of her own destiny,
she must become the monster the world tried to drown in the first
place. 'Enchanting, lush and decadent' Adalyn Grace, author of All

Young readers will delight in Oh, the Thinks You Can Think! which celebrates the imagination and encourages young readers to think . . . about thinking! “Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the Thinks you can think up if only you try.”
Originally created by Dr. Seuss, Beginner Books encourage children to read all by themselves, with simple words and illustrations that give clues to their meaning.
"I mean to write the Story of Midas, with his Golden Touch,
Pandora's Box, The Adventure of Hercules in quest of the Golden
Apples, Bellerophon and the Chimra, Baucis and Philemon, Perseus
and Medusa; these, I think, will be enough to make up a volume. As
a framework, I shall have a young college-student telling these
stories to his cousins and brothers and sisters, during his
vacations, sometimes in the woods and dells. Unless I greatly
mistake, these old fictions will work up admirably for the purpose;
and I shall aim at substituting a tone in some degree Gothic or
romantic, or any such tone as may best please myself, instead of
the classic coldness which is as repellant as the touch of marble.

It was in 1880 and 1881 that Robert Louis Stevenson wrote "Treasure
Island," which was begun at Braemar, Scotland, where his father
aided him with suggestions from his own seafaring experiences. It
was finished in the course of his second visit to Davos in the
winter of 1881-1882. "Treasure Island," which appeared when the
author was thirty-one, was his first long romance, and it brought
to him his first taste of popular success, when the story was
published in book form. It was in October 1881, that this story
began to appear as a serial in an English magazine called "Young
Folks." The title then was "The Sea Cook, or Treasure Island," but
when published in book form in May 1883, the name was simply
"Treasure Island," a name which has taken its place among the
titles of far older classics. This edition contains the superb
illustrations of Louis Rhead, which were first published in 1915.

Introduction and Notes by Dr Sally Minogue, Canterbury Christ
Church University College. Jane Eyre ranks as one of the greatest
and most perennially popular works of English fiction. Although the
poor but plucky heroine is outwardly of plain appearance, she
possesses an indomitable spirit, a sharp wit and great courage. She
is forced to battle against the exigencies of a cruel guardian, a
harsh employer and a rigid social order. All of which circumscribe
her life and position when she becomes governess to the daughter of
the mysterious, sardonic and attractive Mr Rochester. However,
there is great kindness and warmth in this epic love story, which
is set against the magnificent backdrop of the Yorkshire moors.
Ultimately the grand passion of Jane and Rochester is called upon
to survive cruel revelation, loss and reunion, only to be
confronted with tragedy.
Alice's Adventures in Wonderland contains the story of a girl who
falls down a rabbit hole into a magical wonderland. Here the
classic tale is illustrated by John Tenniel's famous line drawings
and Ada Bowley's delightful and magical colour plates. Pook press
are reprinting this work so that it can be enjoyed by another
generation of children and adults alike.
The five children found the Sand-fairy while they were exploring in
the gravel pit. "Don't you know a Sand-fairy when you see one?" it
asked them. The Sand-fairy smoothed his long ratlike whiskers and
smiled between them. I daresay you have often thought what you
would do if you had three wishes given you. "We want," said Robert
slowly, "to be rich beyond the dreams of something or other." But
we all know that wishes for avarice never work out the way they are
supposed to. . . . and to his credit, the Sand-fairy was never mean
spirited, nor vengeful, nor destructive. But he cartainly could be
_weird_. . . . (Jacketless library hardcover.)

These tales are the perfect introduction to Shakespeare's greatest
plays. Renowned writers and essayists of the 18th century, siblings
Charles and Mary Lamb vividly bring to life the power of Hamlet and
Othello, the fun of As You Like It and the drama of Pericles. Their
accessible writing never loses the feel of Shakespeare's beautiful
language and humanity, and convey all of his wit and wisdom. These
tales are classic literature in their own right. Puffin Clothbound
