The original Sap Green, dating back to medieval times, was a watercolor pigment made from buckthorn berries, mixed with alum into a thick, sap-like syrup. Like the original, ours has a dark earthy mass tone and a rich yellow-green undertone.

Designed for sculptural purposes, R&F's Impasto Modeling Wax is a blend of microcrystalline (petroleum) waxes and beeswax. This Impasto Modeling Wax can be cast, carved, and layered to create a textural surface. The melting point of the impasto modeling wax is 175°F, 79°C - a higher temperature than the melting point of encaustic (approximately 162°F, 72°C). Unlike most blues, when mixed with white, Cerulean takes on a softness that in juxtaposition with cool colours makes it seem slightly grayish and neutral, with warm colours a beautiful pale blue.
