Because it is made from porcelain, it is easy to clean, will not stain and will keep your paints wet for longer than a plastic palette; providing a longer period for wet mixing and allowing you to avoid having to colour match to dry hues. Once a pencil has been sharpened to a short stub it can be difficult to grasp. This pencil extender allows you to mount pencil stubs on the end of a long wooden barrel.

Jackson's White Gesso Panels are made of Cradled Pine and MDF board, and can be bought as singles or in packs of ten. These economical panels feature a surface that is tough enough for the most rigorous painting and mixed-media techniques.

Jackson's White Gesso Panels have been hand-coated with a professional acid-free acrylic gesso ground, with added Titanium White. The frame is made of Pine wood, and the board is MDF. This makes them ideal for use with all drawing and painting media. Because these panels have been made by hand, they are not perfectly uniform and may display slight differences in texture. The surface of the panel may appear perfectly smooth, or be slightly textured like cold-pressed watercolour paper. If a perfectly smooth surface is required, they can be given a light sanding with fine grade sandpaper.

These panels are great for watercolour - if you want a smoother, even more absorbent ground, you can add one of our watercolour mediums.

Jackson's Wooden Panels are made of smooth, sanded light plywood, reinforced on the reverse to prevent warping. Sturdy yet lightweight, they are perfect for plein air painting projects and work in the studio.

These panels are made from wood and they are not supplied sealed. This means that liquids are absorbed into the surface and if they get too ‘wet’, there could be a swelling of the veneer. If the panel is to be used for painting then you should seal the surface with a quality glue size or an acrylic based primer. When you're applying acrylic gesso primer, avoid thinning it with water.

After sizing we recommend priming with acrylic gesso and sanding the surface to produce a smooth yet slightly absorbent surface.

Jackson's Wooden Panels can also be used for encaustic painting, or as a work support / drawing board.

Available in 20mm (approx. 3/4") and 50mm (approx. 2") deep profiles, in a wide range of sizes.

Please note: as this is a natural product, small cracks can develop on the surface. These can be removed by sanding the surface before applying the sealer or primer.

What do you get when you mix pigment, wax, and oil? You get a pigment stick of creamy soft texture also known as Gelatos. Gelatos are acid-free, odorless, and water-soluble. They can be used by themselves or combined with water through a series of techniques to create a watercolor medium.

Gelatos quality pigment is resistant to fading under normal lighting conditions and is compatible with most other acrylic mediums. The easy twist up design of Gelatos makes them easy to maintain and store and their solid opaque color is perfect to cover large surfaces.

Gelatos can be used on paper, cloth, canvas, wood, and fabric. We recommend using a thicker paper such as watercolor paper and using a sealant when working with fabric. Gelatos are also great to use when journaling in your books, notebooks, or bibles, and their vibrant colors look great against dark colored surfaces. With such versatility, it can be hard to know where to start with your Gelatos. Here you can find a handful of techniques to gain a better understanding of this medium.

(Note: when using Gelatos with fabric, treat your work as a piece of art. We do not recommend laundering any items to which Gelatos have been applied.)

Blending Gelatos is a great technique to add color and dimension to your work. Combine colors together to create new colors and blend multiple colors together with your fingertips, a cotton swab, water, or a blending tool. Another technique to try on your Gelatos is edging. With the edging technique, create a distressed or grunge effect by drawing color along the edge of your paper then blend to fade color inward.

Using a simple eyelet system, Jackson's have created an apron that allows you to decide on the fit that's best for you. The two supportive straps do not pull at your neck and can be passed straight over your shoulders or crossed behind your back for extra security. With a choice of three different height settings artists of all shapes and sizes will find themselves comfortable and covered.

The apron is constructed from a heavyweight splash-proof canvas, and features three large pockets for convenience. A chest pocket works well for glasses, phones or music players.
