A collection of short hunting and fishing stories suitable for
children and adults. This book is an accumulation of stories sent
to my grandchildren. These stories will capture the attention of
young and old - especially young boys.
The Deluxe versions of Scott Heston's Ohio Made Fishing Lures and
Tackle bring over 150 years of fishing history into full color.
This 2 book set follows Ohio's tackle manufactures from a time just
before the Civil War, to where it is today. Part 1 covers 60
companies, large and small, that made fishing tackle in the Buckeye
State. Many of these companies are being covered for the first
time. They have left a wealth of tackle for collectors and their
innovations have greatly influenced the tackle makers of today.
The Beaverkill, Willowemoc, Neversink, Esopus, Schoharie, and
Delaware--the rivers of angling pioneers Thaddeus Norris, Robert
Barnwell Roosevelt, Theodore Gordon, and many others--are
celebrated in this gorgeous book of photographs and text. In three
major sections, " Land of Little Rivers" presents historical and
physical profiles of the rivers; classic rods, reels, and flies;
and engaging stories of the people, events, and developments that
constitute the Catskill fly-fishing tradition.
Complementing its photographic beauty, " Land of Little Rivers" is
a book of substance, filled with fascinating stories, anecdotes,
and nuggety captions. Land of Little Rivers is the product of
author Francis's twenty-five years of research and writing about
Catskill fly fishing, and of photographer Ferorelli's more than
thirteen thousand images, from which has been selected the most
evocative portfolio of photos ever made of these historic rivers.
Together they have produced an exquisite, museum-quality work, one
that captures magnificently the beauty and passion so central to
the sport Izaak Walton called "the gentle art."
When my husband retired from the army he wanted to spend time bass
fishing. He joined our local bass club and asked me to fish with
him. Little did I know what I was in for. This book is about our
adventures bass fishing. We hope you will laugh and learn what not
to do.
'Monster Catfish, Fishing for Whales' provides a proven technique
and a wealth of catfish specific information for catching huge
monster catfish in any water, in any season. The book is focused
specifically towards catching huge catfish weighing over
twenty-five pounds by fishing with rod and reel. Most fishermen and
anglers of all stripe hit the so called weight barriers in which
they cannot seem to catch anything larger. For most anglers wanting
big catfish, the barrier is usually ten pounds. Fishing for larger
catfish requires a change of thought and a corresponding change of
gear and approach. 'Monster Catfish, Fishing for Whales' provides
the needed categories of information to catch the truly big ones,
namely What, When, Why, How, and Where. Paul Andrulis explains just
what you need to tackle the brutes, and provides a proven method of
becoming a true monster hunter.
Born and raised in the heart of Pennsylvania's trout country, the
Author has enjoyed wading waters coast-to-coast in pursuit of his
love for flyfishing and fly tying. Follow as he wades those streams
again, remembering what first brought him to the fly waters that
continue to draw him in. And share some time at the fly tying bench
with 21 personal patterns, that over the years have helped to
define this blue-collar troutbum.
T.E. Pritt's timeless classic The Book of the Grayling has inspired
generations of fly-fishers. First published in 1888, it was long
considered the definitive book of the subject of grayling. Pritt
drew from a long and rich Northern English tradition of fly-fishing
in the limestone rivers and streams of Yorkshire. Many of the
methods and techniques he describes are still to be found in use
today. This new edition of The Book of the Grayling makes Pritt's
eloquent prose available to fly-fishers and armchair adventurers
the world over.

confidence from there...I'm sure you'll find this book full of
excellent insights and strategies on tenkara fly fishing. Learn
tenkara fly fishing from the insights and experiences of some of
America's best tenkara anglers One of the things I first noticed
when I began getting into tenkara was the lack of written material
available outside of some very good blogs from ex-perienced tenkara
anglers, many of whom participated in this project. Very little
Japanese literature has been translated into English. There are
still many Western-style fly anglers who still don't know or hadn't
heard of tenkara. Now that I have experienced tenkara for myself,
it's hard for me to imagine other anglers missing out on an
opportunity to add another dimension to their fishing pleasure.
Searching around, I did find a small cadre of anglers who had
discovered tenkara and were now on the path to serious dedication
and understanding. More importantly, these guys were catching trout
and lots of them in waters all around the United States. How could
something this good be known to so few? We had to find ways to get
the word out on tenkara as a method of fly-fishing here in the
States. It seemed to me that the best way to do that was to find
some of the best tenkara anglers in the U.S. and work with them to
share their insights, strategies and tactics for tenkara. That's
just what I did in producing this book. You the reader have the
opportunity to consider a wider range of views on tenkara, from the
purist tenkara angler to what I call the adaptive tenkara angler.
There's room for everyone in the tenkara world. You can discern
what appeals to you as you work your way through each chapter. I
think you'll enjoy the wit and often-sharp opinions that our group
of tenkara anglers has openly shared. I know I have as I've worked
through their interviews and constructed the manuscript for this
book project. What You'll Learn In This Book: History of tenkara -
What makes tenkara special - Selecting a tenkara rod - Tenkara fly
lines - Best tippet options - Traditional tenkara flies - Matching
the hatch vs. tenkara - Manipulating the fly - Non-traditional
tenkara flies - Tying Traditional Kebari & Adaptation Patterns
- Casting techniques - Fishing riffles, pools, eddies & pocket
water with tenkara - Fishing small waters - Strategies for fishing
larger waters - Fighting fish on a tenkara rod ...And Much More
Big River, Big Woods, Big Games is the third in a series of stories
about Wildlife Enforcement in Oregon and along the Columbia River
that borders it. The Author spent 25 years along the river
enforcing commercial and sport rules. It was an interesting job to
say the least. This third book delves into the working methods of
the Officers and tells some of their own stories in their own
words. "Outlaws on the Big River" and "Outlaws in the Big Woods"
preceded this book and were unexpectedly successful in the author's
expectations. I think readers will enjoy this book also.
40 YEARS TROUT FISHING IN EUROPE AND NORTH AMERICA
This is a collection of stories about the experiences of six men as
they annually float an Ozark stream. Their camaraderie, their
humorous adventures and the occasional dangerous accident make the
reader appreciate the fun and beauty that can be experienced
outdoors. These stories show that simple pleasures such as fishing,
cooking and camping can lead to a more balanced and happy life.
Short stories of fishing adventures through the eyes of a
fisherman. Four stories of comedy, tragedy, and adventure with a
fishing background.
